Mooching... in your house
gotta say, i think its really well designed and despite never having used cases before I think I'll stick with this one :) looks very much part of the phone...

however... doesn't fit in the official dock anymore which just cost me £25

This belongs in the iPhone 4 thread... but I agree, it's crazy they don't design official products to work with each other.

Too true...

As for the iPhone 4 thread mate, its a joke... you can't discuss stuff sensibly in a thread of over 8000 posts with hundreds of different conversations going on, god knows who's idea that was

Hell, why don't we just have an Apple Software thread and an Apple Hardware thread, keep everything nice and neat and tucked up ;) (on a serious note, haveing everything for an entire product/platform is awful for usability, navigation, search engine results, the list goes on...)

Either way, this thread is talking about the funky iPhone bumpers :)

just the black one, looks really slick on the black phone especially with the shiny section round the edge...

I'm hoping they will make a Universal dock adapter for the iPhone 4 with bumper seeing as nearly every owner will be using one now...

I hate the bumper personally, lokos rubbish and rattles when you shake it

My friend just got his free case, not sure of the make but it 'looks' like a bumper but is all rubber, including the button covers, and it has a built in back cover that looks a little like carbon fibre. It's about the best cover I've seen, but still prefer the naked look.

I ordered a bumper and thought i wouldn't use it, or course in the gym changing room I forgot I put mine in my tshirt, lifted the tshirt and it smacked off the tiled ground! A small chip on the front screen edging and the lower antenna has lost it's matt finish, im thinking the antennas metal is the weak part that could scratch the most.

Also, I never use a fitted dock size in my universal dock, I just leave it without one, the connection seems more that solid enough!

That is poor!

I have also found that the only USB cable that fits plugs into my 4 with the bumper on is the one that came with the phone. All the others ones I have, that look identical and that came with my other iPods won't insert far enough to make the connection. Therefore I have to remove the bumper each time I want to connect it to one of these other cables. Has anyone else found this?

All of the cables I have that came with previous iPhones work. 3rd party ones and the ones that came with my iPod etc don't.
I'm planning on modding the bumper a bit so other cables will fit.

I hate the bumper.

You can use barely any headphones with it, and no third party dock connector accessories fit hardly - i.e iPhone headunit cables, iTrips, car chargers.

Utter crap. No reason at all to make the holes around the ports so tight.

I bought two cheap gel bumpers off eBay, one's lime green and one's orange, and I'm quite happily using them while my bumper sits in a drawer. Considering I could buy SIX of these eBay ones for the same price that's a pretty poor show.

Main reason I bought them is that the cable on my Alpine headunit wouldn't fit with the bumper on, and taking the bumper off and putting it back on between two and four times in an average day was actually starting to damage my phone.

So they must have realised people would be taking this thing on and off, but do they make it easy/safe to repeatedly put on and remove? No way, they use hard plastic for the interior, and just to be sure they give it sharp edges inside as well. Nice one :/

The bumper is better quality of course, but fit is no better - they're the same amount 'loose' at the sides if you pull the sides. It's just that it's plastic/rubber instead of just gel rubber, and the build in buttons look good.

I still prefer the eBay ones to be honest.

Just taken my bumper off my iPhone, had it on since it arrived and it feels like I've just bought a brand new phone. I forgot how nice the iPhone 4 is to touch. I can't see the bumper going back on now.
