Hi guys,

Gonna be selling my 285 to get a 480, so basically which is the best manufacturer to go with? gigga, POV, EVGA, Zotac, PNY, Inno3d ect.

Many Thanks

one with good cooling, the Zotac one looks fine with the dual fans, same with Gigabyte and it's 2 fans as well.

The Zotac one looks a bit to chunky for my case also its a lot more expensive, is that the only thing i should be looking for in a manufacturer? or are they all roughly the same? are gainward ment to be the best?

they are mostly the same cards with different aftermarket cooling setup's. The 480 runs very hot...usually in the mid-high 90's degrees when under gaming load so you'll need a good airflow case if you get a "basic" brand 480 without a good cooler.

Zotac looks a bit chunky yes and it's a bit pricey but the coolers on it would help...check out gigabyte's homepage for info on it's 480's and see what you can find.

Your PSU is more than fine for a 480 as well so no worries on that front.
If your MOBO has SLI options then go for two gtx 460's as they easily beat down a single 480

My mobo only supports crossfire so i cant get two 260's and i found a really cheap EVGA 480, would that one be ok? and my case has got sort of ok airflow, not the best. but my GTX 285 runs at like mid 50's idle and around 80's gaming and stressing

So you rekon i could get a 480 with stock cooler? (will overclock depending on temps) but im not really a big fan of card clocking, so dont mind if i leave it at stock and its more than enough for my games.

a 480 is more than enough for most games. Depends on your screen size what you'll get.

Yeah, basically just want little more kick out my card for some of my games and its more about future proofing it so when i sell this rig to fund my next one will be more of a selling point since it has DirectX 11 support ect.
