**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I'm now up to 3rd in my Silver division. Really wish I had done better in qualifying so I could have been in Gold!

EDIT: I play 1vs1 as Protoss and I don't do gay proton cannon rushes..

the system will promote you to the gold league soon if you keep performing well

I find the Void Ray rush is easy to counter just with a quick scout about 3-4 mins in tops. If you see them teching quickly rush and take out their probes. Even if they get a void ray or two out their economy is ruined and the games is yours for the taking.

I just suck vs. Protoss all together at the mo', I find there's to much to think about they could be doing... sneaky proxies, 2gate, 4gate, void ray rush, dt rush... even more so on Scrap as the base is kinda big you can easily hide stuff, also his Stargate was a bit late so I found it a bit hard to scout out. It's times like in that game that I really do weigh up that first oc scan vs. a MULE. If I scanned, I'd have seen the Stargate and would have got some defence against it, but MULE'd :/ Part of the learning I guess.

I am finding it hard against the Zerg. Threw everything I had at one guy and didn't even get close to his forward base! At that point, I was like, screw this - and ragequit. Hence the silver league :p

This is why I am now doing the challenges to understand the units better.

Finding the MULEs very useful - they provide a huge resource boost over the enemy.

I personally find against other Protoss that if I stop their first rush they're usually pretty helpless.

I find this with most rush's (including my own). A succesful defend (using the high ground and ramp to the base) can be pretty devastating. It can be a difficult decision whether to go all in or hold back to not lose everything during the rush.

I don't see the point in rushing the opposition in 2 mins. Wam bam thank you mam. Its hardly worth the effort of logging on for. Its like everyone's scared of having a full on fight :P

It has its place. If someone tries to get very aggressive with their economy, you really *should* punish them for it.

Most 'cheeses' are really risky though. For example if I send a probe on 6 supply to setup a proxy 2 gate push, if he scouts that I have nothing in my base with his 9 drone/probe/scv, and he counters straight away it's an instant win for him.

There was a game yesterday where I reflexively dropped a forge, extra pylon and chrono'd my first zealot. By the time his first two zealots came at me I had my own zealot out and a cannon warping in. With the aid of a couple probes I held his push, my cannon was up and the game was over because he had no economy to recover from it.

But there's nothing more frustrating that losing to a 6pool or a proxy gateway push that you've no inkling was coming. As you get better though you get to understand the tells and normally you can counter accordingly.

A protoss player tried attacking me with his scout probe. It was mildly annoying more than anything else. At that early stage so little is happening it didnt really slow me down. I still beat him. Actually, that was the same guy that made me destroy every single building before quitting

lol i hate when that happens. i have a friend that does it every single time and it makes people rage so hard.

I can see the worst being a stubborn Terran player who lifts off his last building and floats it away so you need to get air units to kill it. Man that would annoy me no end as the game is obviously yours.

[Edit]: Basically what Milkybk said (I type slow) :p
