China animal cruelty

I'm not defending cruelty to animals.

Do the people who get out raged and worked up over things like this find themselves in a constant state? Things like this, and worse happen on an almost second by second basis somewhere in the World.

I do get very worked up when i see a video of unnecessary violence to an animal that is doing no wrong. For example, the video posted recently on here from the RSPCA.

I am well aware that things like that, and far worse happen all the time. But again, that does not make it acceptable, and it certainly doesn't make it something that should be simply brushed off because it happens so much.

I'm all for using animals as a resource, humanely. But beating a puppy up for your own satisfaction? No.

Again, I've not said it makes it acceptable nor that it should be "brushed off", I'm pointing out that I find it kinda odd that people get worked up about such things but then go back to their "normal" self on a day to day basis?

If this sickens you so much, why not do something about it?

Agreed.

I'm sure it sickens 99.9% of people, most people have lives and not a lot of time to do things about it unfortunately.

What would you suggest?

What can we do about it?

ah the wonderful point of me actually knowing what to do?

I don't have a sodding clue.

I'd say doing something, from donating money to a charity that seeks to help stop this, or making people aware through campaigning is better then sitting on your bum saying "oh the outrage" and then actually doing nothing.

In fact doing anything, something that combats this is better then sitting there being out raged but accepting it?

So you aren't allowed to be outraged at something unless you actively do something to stop it?

I read it as though you were implying that it wasn't worth getting worked up over, which is what disturbed me.

The problem is its not as simple as 'do something about it' really. At the end of the day, what can I actually do short of Joining the RSPCA?

Its something that is unavoidable and will always happen regardless of what I do as I'm sure you know, which is perhaps why it frustrates me so much.

Again, not said that :]

Just saying, if people are so outraged by this, why don't they do something about it?

There's lots of reasons why. Time, money... pretty much anything you like?

People should be allowed to express their distaste at something without being told to suck it up unless they are doing something to help it, especially when its a subject such as this one.

I don't lay awake at night worrying about the animals in Circuses that are being abused in China, but I sure as hell don't agree with it and think the people responsible are some of the lowest form of scum in existence.

Yeah, which is why I in part understand thinking "yeah that's really bad" but we don't do anything to stop it do we?

I've pointed out that if people are so out raged by this, why not join an organisation that combats this?

There are many things that happen in this World that are awful and horrible, but if we stand about tutting and saying "thats really bad" nothing is there to stop it?

That's fair enough, but I'm not sure what is the best way to stop it.

I know little about the subject really, only that what I'm seeing is unpleasant and horrible.

I'm not saying people shouldn't be allowed to express their opinions on something.

I'm not telling people to "suck it up" either, I'm pointing out, that if this out rages so many people, why don't you all do something to help stop it?

I mean, sitting here doing "nothing" when in reality you could do something, no matter how small it is, to help would be better.

"no one person can do everything, but everyone can do something".

Really the only thing that can make a big enough difference is the law. Why things like this are acceptable in China is simply beyond me.

In the time it's taken someone you to type that you could have emailed the Chinese (or whomever is in charge). Edit, don't take that as a you "should" or anything like that, it wasn't meant personally :)

Again, it's little things that add up.

Laws change, on big things such as this from pressure.

oh hi

Closer to home, culture, on sky news for a day, then its the fish and chip paper

No, just pointing out its just news on day the next its used for the fish and chips it comes around every year, some crusade by some charity aiming to bring happiness to the animals yet forgetting the money that is made from the animals, bit like Greenpeace sailing around the world in diesel powered ships.
