........because someone decided to get murdered on or near the train line at Winchester.

Other than being inconvenient, I can't seem to find any information full of gruesome details.

Does anyone know the story?

That's nothing pal. Once a car crashed into a wall, which was near a train bridge. This brought Stockport and part of Manchester Piccadilly to a stand still.

Fun times.

Inconsiderate people in this world, really. Having said that, I would welcome the opportunity to be late to work due to the trains and some person being killed. What a good excuse for an hour or two off? :D

I'm sure the family and friends of the victim, will be overjoyed at the fact their loved one losing their life has given you an hour or so off work.

That's nothing, I was once late because there was a dog on the tracks. The driver kept trying to shoo it away but the dog just ran further down the track. Eventually the RSPCA were called but it took about an hour in all.

I had that on the Reading > Guildford line after work, someone in a lorry hit a bridge. Being sat there for a few extra hours was rather boring. :(

My thinking too :D

Suicide happens on our line at least once a month. In fact, on most of the Metro stations nearer London they have Samaritan signs at the Platform edge. Seems to be Romford more often.
Surely the ones in Romford will say "This way to salvation!" and point towards the tracks? :p

When I used to commute into London, this happened every now and again.

You aren't ever going to find gruesome details!
What usually happened is whatever local newspaper is closest to the area may have it reported on their website, as they obviously want to inform people that there is a delay on a commuter line. Full details and names won't be released until they are finished with their investigation.

Most of the time, it's usually a suicide or drunk.

On a personal note, I was once waiting for a train out of London, late on a Thursday night, must have been about 12:30ish, so near enough the last train. Just as about half the train had pulled out of Euston, we came to a grinding halt and then nothing for a few minutes. Then the Driver came on the radio and said somebody was on the tracks and we wouldn't be going anywhere for a while. A few minutes later, some staff from the station board one of the doors of the train and have to walk all the way along it to the front, obviously because the train was half out the station. They returned a little while later, supporting a man in about his early sixties, very well dressed business man, however his suit was covered in grime, and he had cuts and bruises, the biggest of which was a huge cut to his head.

Obviously seeing this man brought down the train with quite a serious wound was also very upsetting for a number of people on the train. I'm pretty sure it was a failed suicide attempt, luckily the driver spotted him not long after setting off.
