**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I want to play some 2v2 games. I havn't even done one placement game yet. Add me Sadform, 219. Im in the gold 1v1 league.

Yeah very true, I quite like Blistering because of the backdoor, gives extra things to think about, also like the fact the 3rd expo can't be defended as easily!

Yeah, don't think you threw the game away as such, more so i did a good job of making you think i had more! lol ^^ was quite intense!

I think i over-compensated a little with my lings, but when i saw you chronoing down more Zealots, i just went a little mental! but then, thats just the result of a good early aggression on your part. perfect infact. made me waste lavae

I'll figure out the counter at some point, it will just click :)

Idra is amazing, the drone:units ratio is fantastic, and the gameplay, out of this world! i might start watching some replays actually, i've not actually seen any decent ones, even through the BETA, just been improving on my own game. got to that wall now though.

really looking forward to some more games later, tis uber practise!
might try out some new builds i've been thinking about.

EDIT: miss quoted. meh, was meant to be for Kar ^^

True, your lings denied me the opportunity to really push in and take a look without taking too much risk.

It was annoying though, I forgot I had a probe in the back of your base all that time, I coulda ran it around your main and gotten a better idea of where you were at.

I think I hit you with my last push just as you were going for the gold :)

Idra is ridiculous, he's my favourite player (despite/maybe a little bit even on account of the BM). His understanding of timing borders on the supernatural. I kind of understand why he rages a bit, because he plans for a 50 minute game, and his opponents plan for a 10 minute one.

That must be really frustrating.

for protoss players definately watch the following players:

WhiteRa
Tester (OGSsSKS)
Huk
KiwiKaki
NEXGenius
TTOne

Everyone should watch TheLittleOne (TLO) he started off Random in the Beta in both Race and playing style. Its like he picked up the Rule book flicked through it and thought "Sod this for a game of checkers" and rearranged the words and pages to make silly swear words. Seriously Awsome player. Has been at the top end of many tournaments playing random. (beating Top players who have specialised in only one race)
Recently he has dropped Toss from his games as he seemingly constantly rolled Toss a number of times against Toss players in tournaments and lost to players he would have otherwise beaten if he was Terran or Zerg. I think he played a best of 5 against whiteRA and rolled Toss 3 maybe 4 times.

Truly inspirational player who plays his own unique style which is both entertaining and usually very devastating.

Finally beginning to get some decent tactics together. The power of protoss teleportation is something not to be sniffed at. Twice now my opponent has thought he has me on the run, only to find i had been building up a huge force just outside his lines.

Concentrating on getting all the SP achievments at the moment. Happily sitting in the silver league with a 5win:3loss league ratio and about 9:4 overall. May play some league games tonight. Also might look into 2v2 teams games etc. What are those like?

I recommend anyone who is playing in the practice league to just skip it. It gets you in terrible habits for when you move onto proper maps. 6 supply zergling rush is interesting, if not an exceptionally boring way to play the game.

Is the practice league still played at a slower speed?

If you are playing in the Practice league (I to recommend skipping it) I would only play in it long enough to know what most of the buildings look like for each race and what most of the units look like and are strong/weak against.

As stated the practice league will teach you nothing but bad habits.

Yup played at normal speed, bases are blocked off at the beginning and expansion is less risky. Very different!

I agree that playing it long enough to know the structures and stuff is probably a good idea.

I think the practice league should be played at the regular ladder speed.

It's a bit like driving in a small english villiage and then suddenly going on to a German autobahn.

It is literally that much of a jump. I kinda assumed it was an option, not the given :(

Kinda getting used to it now though. I'm gonna leave zerg until my macro is nailed. Absolutely essential to spawn larva but I forget for 30 secs and it bums me for it.

Just had a match where i adjusted my build plan (which i usually stick to like glue) in order to better beat the enemies, very satisfying to feel their utter sense of shock when their previously successful units get massacred.

Still playing in the beginners league though, so no delusions of being any good.
