Yay more rumours :)

http://kotaku.com/5609770/rumor-borderlands-studio-reviving-duke-nukem-forever

There may be hope yet for the ludicrously long-in-the-making Duke Nukem Forever. Sources claiming to have knowledge of the situation tell Kotaku that Duke Nukem Forever development continues at a new home, Borderlands developer Gearbox Software.

The studio responsible for Brothers In Arms, Borderlands and Aliens: Colonial Marines is said to have picked up Duke Nukem Forever development where former studio 3D Realms left off, perhaps Duke's best bet for eventual completion.

Duke Nukem Forever, according to sources who wished to remain anonymous, is now in the hands of Gearbox and is planned to be released under the studio's name. Gearbox was outed as the developer of the apparently scrapped Duke Nukem spin-off Duke Begins earlier this year.

Take-Two Interactive still maintains publishing rights to the title, which the company confirmed to Kotaku tonight. (A company spokesperson declined to comment about the status of the Duke Nukem Forever project and whether it is in the works at Gearbox.)

One source indicated that a playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever will be available later this year.

Can't see it happening because of Take-Two possibly still having the publishing rights.

But borderlands, also developed by Gearbox, was published by 2k, a subsiduary of Take-Two so it is possible.

I can see the logic in it, take-two are simply moving the game onto another developer. Whether it's true or not, i doubt it.

No smoke without fire ;)

"I've started a new project. It's big. It's, like, 'look-at-our-line-up-and-imagine-something-even-bigger' kind of big. I'm directing it myself. I can't mention it publicly yet. When you find out what this is, you'll likely agree that I can't oversell this one."

- Randy Pitchford, Gearbox President, regarding this upcoming title!

3DRealms don't own the rights to much at all, since they (finally) folded some time last year.

Sorry, yes, but don't they still have a "franchise management" company which holds the rights to Apogee and 3DRealms games? Those they haven't sold, anyhow.

That court case has been and gone.

3D Realms still own the IP of DukeNukem. I suppose they are giving it to a software house that can get it finished.

ARGH IT JUST WON'T DIE!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, enough of this BS. Just release this game or stop cluttering the airwaves!

Id like to see it finally released and be a good game, sad thing is nomatter how good it is its hard to justify the restarts, delays etc. :(

Still at least its got a possibility of hitting store shelves eventually.

As long as they keep the grenade launcher, teleporter deaths and piracy versus level from the n64 version of the game (remade with sexah graphics) I'll be a happy man!

...oh I almost forgot the expander gun! Best weapon ever!!!
