Whats better?

ohh you just said intel vs amd you mean Nvidia vs ATI.. if you don't need cuda then i would go with a ATI 5970 as from what i've read it is still the best card around, if you need cuda and got a good case and psu then get a nvidia gtx 480

I think at that budget a 470 SLI setup would come out king.

What's your res?

*Edit*

NV or ATI

Neither is "better" they do things differently (CUDA being the most "important")
Imo this generation was ATI > NV but it's swings and roundabouts in the GFX industry :)

What is CUDA and what spec should I look at when referring to graphics card as they seem to all have the same clock speed even the old ones..

Currently ATi offer much better value for money than nVidia do. nVidia cards are either more expensive for less performance, or if there's a performance lead, it'll be about 5% for 30% more money, which I don't think it's worth.

Clockspeeds are highly irrelevant when comparing different graphics cards, they're not relatable really.

like said above its swings and roundabouts really, depends what your looking for a card for? lots of gaming? since as far as i know CUDA means nothing in gaming, its meant for serious number crunching. what i have seen the ATI cards similar in terms of raw performance but use less power, anyone clarify this?
