A good PC desk for my bedroom

Have a look in DIY shops. I was after a new desk for a while but wasn't prepared to pay £100++ for the type of desk that I wanted. I got one in Focus in a sale for £50 that was just was I was after.

anyone know where i can get something similar for cheap

I was looking for soemthing similar, gave up and made my own.

Was looking for simple legs, narrow but long top and no draws, or anythign to get in way of legs.

a piece of Conti board, 4 Legs and some screws £27. (you can get wood effect and other stuff, but it costs more)

although I need to buy a fifth leg as the top is drooping in the middle, one leg centre back will stabilise it and shouldn't get in the way.

Ill be having a good look around, so ill definitely check diy shops out TOO.

The best PC desk are the ones thats deep, so you still have space between the monitor and keyboard. i brought mine in argo ages ago, been using for 8 years!

I picked up a desk from Staples which is pretty awesome :)

It's the Manilla 1400mm Oak Effect one, can't see it on their site but the thing cost me £140~ and came with a set of drawers too (which I use for a bedside table - but they're pretty nice).

Nice simple desk. It's oak veneer and has a nice flat top, two pieces of wood at the side, and a little bit at the back. lots of leg room because no stupid drawers or bits underneath, and the wood is nice and thick. Definitely the best desk i've owned so far anyway!

If you look around in staples see if you can see it there. Think mine was on sale/discount at the time though.

Hmm, never been good with wood lol. But ill consider it, my uncle could always do it for me heheh.

Nor am I, but all I had to do was mark it all out, borrow a jigsaw to cut it out then sand the edges down to make them round. A few coats of paint later and its done! :)

It cost me about £60 in total with the paint being the most expensive part!

Thats what I did.. An MDF board, some wall brackets, a couple legs and some paint and varnish and its great. Its huge, fits perfectly, is rock solid and more importantly only cost me a fraction of the price of smaller desks from Ikea! :D

This is exactly what I did, ended up with a great desk which has all the right cubby holes and storage space I need as well as having a nice big gap to show off my blue glowy computer :D

I'm crap at making stuff as well but the best thing you can do is keep it simple!

15 seconds on google and you can find that generic desk for 129 quid listed at 30 places for < 60

alright guys, the size of my room is 9.5ft by 7.5ft. Very small lol.
But ive also got to consider that my bed is roughly 4.1ft by 6.3ft.
And my wardrobe is 3ft by 1.9ft.
So the space ive got is tiny, butt ill have to make it work.

Im currently in the market for a new desk myself :). Ive looked at places like ikea and staples and in my opinion, they are too flimsy for my taste.

Looking for a nice spatious corner unit, and sadly the closest thing ive found is this from argos -

(the one thats shown design your own home office - Milano range)

Sadly though i dont think its strong enough (or even deep enough) to hold a case, and 2 monitors on the desk without collpasing.

oh well. the searching continues

I did this where I use to live and it worked perfectly. Even got a local company to cut the MDF board to the exact size I needed for an entire £3 and they even had a metal adjustable "leg" for support on the exposed corner.

Where I live now I've got a massive L shaped glass desk which is a pure nightmare to keep clean and has no cable management etc. Cable management in a MDF board based desk is where you can be bothered to drill the hole :D

Couldn't recommend the advice enough.
