furthest you've driven in a day?

I've got to drive around 2,600 miles from here to Cyprus at some point - it won't be done in a day, but as fast as possible really. I suspect 1000 miles a day will the be target.

700miles, 10 hours, 2x1hour breaks.

Gibraltar to Benicassim (festival), past Valencia in the CTR. Awesome fun, back was done in by then though!

576, Goodwood and back.

Set off at 3am, got there for 7am then set off back at 5pm arriving home at 1am. I was awake for 24 hours, got mega sun burn and loved it. The last 2 miles were dangerous though, had to keep stopping.

423 miles from Adelaide, South Australia to Hay, New South Wales is probably the furthest in a single day.

Breaking the trip up with an overnight stop and its 750 miles over 2 days from Plymouth to North Yorkshire and back. This just pips 745 miles over 2 days from Adelaide, SA to Bathurst, NSW.

Intruiging drive. Why?

And don't you think 1000 miles a day is a combination of reckless and stupid?

I think the most I have done in one day is about 400 miles. That was from the Midlands to the South coast, to several places there and back again. That was enough in a day for me really, I had the Jag when I did that too ...and I did it all on one tank of fuel!

600 miles - West Mids to Central Scotland and back. Just to fix my mum's PC! Can't remember exactly what was wrong with it, but I remember it didn't take long at all to fix.

Having done it, no.

1000 miles in a day is fine IMO, I wasn't tired at the other end. The overall journey was done in around 11 hours, but that was fully utilising the unrestricted parts of the Autobahn.

Villa out there. Cars out there are either ****, or ridiculously expensive, its works out much cheaper to drive something down there.

Possibly, but I'd play it by ear on the way. If at 600 miles I felt like I should not continue, I'd stop.

Around 540 miles in a day give or take the odd mile according to the RAC mileage calculator. That was Edinburgh to Falmouth and not all that terrible a journey until the final few miles which were done with fading light so when the normal road into Falmouth was closed I didn't see the diversion which meant noodling about for half an hour trying to find another way without me knowing the area. This was in a 1L Nissan Micra as well, still it was infinitely more comfortable than the hire Transit I got for London to Edinburgh - they must design those vans for midgets because everything is at least 4" too low to be comfortable for me apart from the seat itself which could have done with being a bit lower.

You gotta be joking me, right?

3 days of driving 2,600 miles (With accomodation each way) and then a ferry is cheaper than a flight and a hire car?!

You can rent a Fiesta or something from Hertz for 100 quid a week!?

How does it make sense to drive to Cyprus, its miles!

A little over 10 hours Newquay- the wirral- Chester with heavy traffic. In a mk V Golf 1.6
Was 17 at the time, was my third time driving on a motorway (the first was the trip there)

I agree with this, I can't see the savings to be had driving to Cyprus.

I drive to the French Alps because the savings are a minimum of £150 a person (assuming a car of 4 people), but that's only 780~ miles.
