ATI 5850 - no 2D clocks after OC

Hi.I don't know what hapend but after OCing my card 2D clock doesn't drop , only GPU clock going down to 400 MHz - memory stay the same.
What is going on?

what drivers you running?,i know there are several cats that are having issues with 2d/3d clocks
 
Yeah new fix from ATI to solve dual monitor crashing and flickering, basically if you overclock the idle clocks will run higher, default clocks are fine, run catalysts 10.4 if you want idle clock speeds back when overclocking.
 
Its happened ever since the 10.5 driver, which is partly why I am using 10.4. Its something to do with allowing 2 monitors to work properly, but it buggers up those with just the one monitor.

You can set different profiles for 2d and 3d in the control panel. Some will say use MSI after burner, but I could never set the 2d clocks to anywhere near their original low speeds.
 
yup, utter crap. Funny, when I watch video online, eg iplayer, my clocks go down to 400-900, close the video and let it idle, it goes back up to 400-1100. stupid.

Sure I can setup profiles in afterburner but i should have to.
 
I don't understand the new obsession with idle clocks.
As long as its not running full 3D clocks & voltages while idle i really couldn't care less.
 
Well going from 33c idle to 45-50c idle would bother me, especially when it's not necessary when you're running only one monitor, sloppy fix from ATI. GTX 480 idles no problem when overclocking, just Nvidia make the dual monitor users pay the price in heat and volts and not all users, unlike ATI.

I very much doubt that the average GPU idles at 33c.
And there is nothing wrong with 45c.

I can understand if the problems are more than just not having rock bottom idle speeds.

What was the idle speeds of the 4 & 3 series ?

And its not like you cant go back to older drivers that don't have that issue, both ATI & NV users do that when they need to.

I should rephrase what i wrote:

I went back to Nvdia because of driver issues with several games not the 2d/3d clocks issue

But i get what several people are moaning about regarding the clocks not being correct,this would annoy me.
 
For people that have a Gigabyte board, download DES and that will lock the card right down,

clocked my card down to 151 core and 100mem.
