The 645Ci in particluar.

Are they nice/fun/good to drive or would you need an M version?

Good specs for the age? (Gadget wise)

Manual, SMG or Auto? I'm not too keen on an Auto.

It was released in 2004 so is it already outdated? Are there better and newer cars to spend the same money on? It's the same age as my 3 but 3's came out in '98/9 where as the 6 was '04 onwards. Is that a significant difference or is 6 years getting on? I'm of the opinion that they still compete but would like the opinion of someone with knowledge.

Would you buy one?

What other cars are there to purchase for around the same cost with good, fun performance on both road & track that are big enough to accomodate a tall guy?

I can't fit in a 911 or a Noble M12 :( ...those are the only other two I have looked at and I am aware they are quite different to a 6 or M6 but I'm out of ideas. I want something fun for the occassional drive whilst I'm still young, free & single :)

How tall are you? Im 6'4 and never had a problem in 911's.

How much do you want to spend? It's a more luxurious 5 Series coupe but it sits above the 5 Series. They are relatively expensive, you really need upwards of 17k to avoid the junk and this is lots for a 6 year old car.

I like them but the age for the money you spend puts me off.

Old ones are now finding favour with wideboys who park them up near bins for mates to smoke pot in etc as well :(

Hang on I just read your post again. You realise a 6 series is nothing like a Noble m12?

I think what you want is some bling, not fun.

I'm just a smidge over 6'4 but I found sitting in them too uncomfortable, the position of the pedals made my legs ache and I wasn't in it for long either.

LOL @ the pot & bins remark. I'm looking at the 20k mark, no higher than 25. but this is the reason I was asking about how well they have aged as I agree it is a serious amount of money to spend on a 6yr old car.

I know they are completely different, in fact I stated that in my OP.

I wanted a performance car, always liked 911s but after not fitting in one my dream was shattered and I have been going left, right and centre trying to replace it with something which can complete. An M12 was a closer match, the 6 is me clutching at straws :(

I'm not sure it's really something that is track orientated, of course unless you go for the M6.

It does depend on what you want I guess, something refined? driver focused?

Pretty much going to echo what Fox has said, nice car but for the price? I'd probably go for something else.

Tiptronic 911 :) You wont have a problem with pedals then.

Yeah I know you're right, I was just hoping it was orientated a bit more in the fun direction than practicality. I think the M6 might be more appropriate but I'm not sure I could justify the maintenance costs.

I'm not after a purpose track car, this is for my weekend fun with occassional track use. I'm keeping my 3 so practicality is not an issue.

I'm stuck as to what to buy, there aren't many fun options for us big fatties :(

The M6 is something else, the rest, well a 5 in expensive drag you could say.

Not a car that I'd put with a 911, and not the car I think the OP wants really.

For the budget, I'd have thought an M5 would be more suitable than a 645i for the OP's requirements, then again, an M5 is hardly a track toy that said, not many track toys offer what the M5 offers when its not on a track.

Interesting analysis. I'm not sure an M5 is what I want, I mean I love them, but it's not got the same "weekend sports car" appeal if you know what I mean. An M3 possibly but an M5 is just a bit too big, although I could shop in my 3 and keep the 5 as a daily...

my brother has a 650i, really nice car, only bad bits are rear space and evil depreciaition but thar works in your favour 2nd hand as you get a lot of car for not much money

The 6 isn't exactly small. It's probably a smidge shorter than a 5 and I reckon maybe a smidge wider, they are whopping GT style coupe's.

Not really, frankly near £20k for a 6 year old BMW thats effectively just a slightly better appointed 5 Series with 2 less doors is a lot of things but 'a lot of car for the money' it really isnt :(
