Hi,

GF has been bumped by another car, nothing major apart from a few scuffs. She is now complaining of an aching neck which is understandable. Now for the questions.

The other driver would like to try to settle without involving insurance companies, fine as it is probably <£200 of damage (they are insured, have checked that out).

The big but, what about the personal injury, is it best we just go through our insurance company and let them sort everything out?

Or Settle the damage direct, then peruse a personal injury separately - can you actually do this?

Ta.

Private no win no fee solicitor, dont involve your insurance. Will be all done within three months. Anyone who has anything to say about that, the driver should have been watching what they were doing.

She is now complaining of an aching neck and you are going to sue? tell her to man up... leave the sueing to people that break bones or loose body parts...

i had a similar situation recently i was in my old banger 306 and a woman in a brand new Mini Cooper S went up my arse she had a screaming child in the back seat so i forgave her swapped details but never did anything about it.

just another dent in my 306

neck ache after a minor bump is the reason we all pay ridiculous insurance premiums.

money for nothing !

Only a scratch on the car yet she has a bad neck what a surprise.

That is exactly what happened in my driving test.

I am at a red light with handbrake on, stupid taxi goes in the back and the bumper has a small dimple in.

Me = Fine
Examiner = omg my neck whine whine -took 2 weeks off work 'sick'.

Whiplash has to be the biggest claim scam going.

Dude - if you're thinking fo thepersonal injury route she needs to get examined by a doctor asap so there's proper medical evidence of the incident.

HAving said that, people can get a bit over excited about suing for personal injury - if its a serious thing then do it. If its not then don't waste everyone's time and help push up insurance premiums for the rest of us.

The truth will soon be known when she visits a physio. I've had plenty of people give me the "oh yeah, whiplash?" treatment since being rear ended, especially on here. However, when attending my first physio session on Monday, it turns out the accident and resulting whiplash has been responsible for a lot of issues I never even would have thought of being related to it.

Pins and needles, restricted arm movement on my right side (which I didn't even notice, if I'm honest!) and headaches being the biggest surprises, but seriously the physio knows exactly where is damaged and does a good job of alleviating via pressure points without me even telling her whether it hurts or not (but when probing - every place she picks turns out to be a problem spot).

Best you don't do any harsh manual labour, like polishing cars, or anything strenuous like driving all the way to Cyprus in your condition. You might make it worse.

I'd hardly call machine polishing harsh manual labour - A rotary is smooth and fluid, nothing like that DA you have.

lmao. Insurance and all that :p

I thought whiplash was something that cant be diagnosed, thus the ridiculously high % of con artists that use it. I'm not doubting that the physio was about to sort out a lot of problems, but my gf has had the same and that was possibly from not having good pillow while sleeping, but tbh it can never be proved what caused it.....rambling on a bit here so ill just stop now :)
