ive just finished buying all my pc parts and have been setting it up. this graphics card has one hdmi and one dvi.
it comes with a dvi to hdmi adapter so i know it can run 2 hdmi devices.
can the dvi port converted to hdmi transmit sound as it does to my televsion with the other hdmi port?
as i have just recieved my new monitor from ocuk Samsung P2450H 24" and has a 3.5m jack out and optic out and would like to use that for my pc speakers to connect to.
if it is not the case can my pc use both sound options as in graphics card and motherboard built in sound at the same time if needed

I'm pretty sure it only transmits sound from its HDMI port, the DVI port, I don't think that can do HDMI audio. With the ATI 4 series, you needed a special adapter, for example, to use HDMI audio. You couldn't use just any DVI-HDMI adapter.

so is it possible to use onboard sound and hdmi sound at the same time iam not sure how to solve this issue
many thanks

With the supplied adapter, yes, it should be able to carry sound. I think you can have only one sound device that transmits the sound, which you change in the sound device settings.

ok so what you are sayin is that one device as in graphics card? doesnt matter if i had two?
so in theory 2 graphics cards displaying and transmiting the same image and sound via hdmi port on each card to 2 different screens ie plasma tv and samsung monitor

windows only allows one device to play the sound though.

even if u have 2 graphic cards it only allows one device to play the sound though.

could i use a dvi to hdmi adapter so i have 2 hdmi leads to 2 screens with sound from one graphics card.
i have found a adapter that claims "This adapter will enable HDMI audio/video through the DVI output of the Radeon HD 3000/4000/5000 series PCI-Express boards."

Am i able to link it? its from the usa thus being a non competitor?

**update** have tested the dvi to hdmi adapter and no sound...
i know my card has displayport too.... could i use a displayport to hdmi adapter for my monitor? so both screens have sound?
