Tell me about the 6 series?

Orrid things the 6 series, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but **** me you must have Stevie Wonders eyes if you like a 6.

An M3 possibly but an M5 is just a bit too big, although I could shop in my 3 and keep the 5 as a daily...

If you already have a 3, then an M3 is not that much of a change - apart from a few hundred extra BHP perhaps? :D

Otherwise, I think you answer your own thread, forget the 6 (unless its an M) get an M5 - which is a far better car than an M6 imo - not that I'd mind either....

An M5 for £20k is a complete liability and you would need to be headcase to buy one unless you were loaded, in which case, buy a £30k one instead.

Some of the advice you dispense confuses me, what other than the fact you've seen a few on Autotrader made you recommend an E60 M5?

And why is an M5 a 'far better car' than an M6? What basis do you form that opinion on?

Imo the M5 is a far more practical car than the M6, cheaper too iirc, in my book that makes for a better car, not to mention I don't like the styling of the 6.

I recommend an M5 because it is what it is, a luxury saloon car that will be competent around the track should the OP decide to track it, not many other cars tick that box which is the essence of the M5 imo.

A £20k M5 may well be a liability, good job the OP can meet half way @£25k, if that bags a lemon I'd be surprised to say the least.

Anyway, snipe away, I have work to do.....:D:p

Apart from power, how much different is a 645 to an M6? Would it still be fun?

Why can't a 6 series be a "weekend car"? I agree that it is far from being an ideal track car but I can't see it being a bad 2nd car...

The costs involved in something like an E60 M5 are beyond your comprehension and have directly contributed to the brutal depreciation these cars have suffered. It isnt a case of buying a lemon - they are all expensive! Tax Evaders lunched its gearbox with 20k on it!

Why would you have a 6 Series for the weekend and a 3 Series Coupe for during the week? Both are normal, decent, everyday BMW's. Neither are weekend toys.

If you want a weekend toy why not chose something thats compromised in ways that you wouldnt want to use it every day?

Truthfully, because I can't think of anything else I want :(

The plan was always a 911, with that out the window I'm just plain

If you are happy enough with your current car that you'd keep it, and you cant think of anything you really want, why spend £25k on a car? Whats the point?

Why not keep that £25k until you find something you really want, instead? Why not spend it on other things? Why spend it at all?

That's why I started this thread, to find out if a 6 would be worth it or not. I'm seeing one tomorrow which may sway me either way but this thread wasn't a "I'm buying a 6 series right now", it was a "tell me about the 6 series".

Seeing as the general opinion is that a 6 is not the ideal car do you have any helpful suggestions as to what may be?

No, not really. Is this money burning a whole in your pocket?

If you need a new car, then sure, I get the point. But if you are keeping yours anyway whats the point unless there is something you really want, which its quite clear there isnt?

Are you just trying to out-bling your mates or something? :p
