Forum boasting teen loses licence for his M5

Better than the teen in the US who boasted about v-maxing his Dad's M5 along a runway only to kill himself and his mates the following evening when he forgot to leave braking room I suppose.

Edit: just read the post a few above here. I lose.

Not at all. As you speed along the runway, the distance you have to brake in decreases rapidly, and the distance you need to brake in increases rapidly. It's very easy to pass the ever rapidly approaching crossover point between required braking distance and available braking distance

In my books messing up on a 7500ft straight for airliners is pretty special.

Oh you've got to be kidding me.

Stories like this anger me to the absolute max, the thought of the Police taking the internet bragging of a 19 year old so seriously would be laughable if it weren't so sad.

It's the internet for Christ sake. People lie and B.S on forums, especially rich spoiled teenagers.

The method of the Police corroborating the story is epic too. Canvassing a neighbourhood - What the hell is that going prove? Unless one of them just happened to be playing around with their fully calibrated Gatso device at the time, nothing. And What exactly is this witnesses' statement? "He was going fast"? How do you know? People's perception of speed is crap, especially when loud noises (Like a M5 under hard acceleration) are involved.

Not saying the guy didn't do it, he obviously did if he's wimped out like this, but the authority's "If it was posted on the internets, It must be true!" stance is nothing short of ridiculous. Any forum user who used such a stance would be drown in a sea of male cow dung!

I don't see the problem, someone has reported a concern, the Police followed it up and was able to gain witness statements and sufficient evidence to prosecute. The kid was stupid enough to post specifics so It's all down to him. An M5 under hard acceleration is going to be breaking the limit in no time at all and I'm sure most will be able to tell the difference between 40 KPH and 100+.

I just saw you drive down my road in your Fiesta doing 148mph.

He threatened a police officer and her family when she posted in the thread saying she didn't think it was a good idea he be posting it all, members of the public had complained and forum users shopped him in, it was hardly a waste of police resources, in fact, my guess is they really didn't have to do anything. They probably knocked on his front door and after wetting himself he probably admitted it with massive gaping flaws and apologies in his account of what happened.

Its gobsmackingly lazy policing.

Its pathetic.

They should be out stopping real criminals who mug people and threaten them with violence, not some big mouth on an internet forum.

The next step is for the police to arrest everyone who uses the internet in that state, as im sure at one stage or another they have posted something on a forum which might be considered bragging.

I think usa has a strange insurance system, its the car which is risky not the driver?

It was only about (IIRC) 3500 feet, and the problem was that the run-off consisted of a forty foot drop.

owch

That was legit, I was evading badgers.

He wasn't just bragging, his plate was also complained about by members of the public and eye witnesses horrified by his driving long before he posted on the internet.

So if this guy had plowed into a group of schoolkids the next day, would you be saying the same thing?
'Oh well, at least the police were out getting the REAL criminals!'

You cant keep using silly arugments like this.

Its crass.

I mean, what if he lost it on a slippery road, after 7mm of rain in 10 minutes, meaning the extra 5% more on the throttle made the exhaust note louder that made an old lady jump and drop a knife on her pet hamster?

Why would he suddenly plough through a line of children because he likes to drive fast?

Ive driven at close to 200mph before on a motorway, does that mean that I am now more likely to knock a line of old ladies down at a bus stop??

 im afraid.
