Why is Racism Unacceptable but Homophobia is Acceptable?

Animals hitting other same-sex from their species is usually a dominance thing.

No that's just what the in-denial tv presenter says, unless you've got a bdsm fetish then the thought of dominance typically doesn't result in sexual arousal. I don't understand why there seems to be this strange link with sex and dominance in peoples minds.

Apart from sexual preference I agree that a gay man or a gay woman is equal to a hetero woman or man and should be allowed to do the same things.

However in terms of raising a child, I will always find it funny because it's just not normal or the natural way...

Normal just means what usually happens. That changes all the time. For example, it used to be extremely abnormal for a woman to be a scientist. Can you name any prior to Marie Curie? I can name one off the top of my head (Mary Somerville, 1792-1884). Definitely very far from normal.

Natural doesn't completely apply to humans. Humans haven't lived in "the natural way" for at least 10,000 years, probably not ever. We have far too much intelligence to live entirely instinctively, i.e. in the natural way. Nor would we really want to. It is, for example, natural to murder people in order to steal their resources. Besides, what is the natural way? It coule be considered the natural way to have most men away from the tribal home for extended periods of time hunting, in which case it could also be considered the natural way to have totally gay men staying in the tribal home to guard it and help raise the children (male role models and all that). After all, if they're totally gay they're not going to be having sex with the women while their men are away. Win-win!

So, I reject both "normal" and "natural way" as arguments.

If people decide to be homosexual, there is no possible way they can produce offspring and therefore, they die out. Its their decision so why should they want to adopt and artificially continue their legacy?

For the same reason that heterosexual couples who can't have biological children together choose to "adopt and artificially continue their legacy".

That's a minor thing come on, but homo adoption is not natural.

Well in the future I hope a society is in place where everyone is accepted equally regardless of there sexual preference, if a society exists where sexual preference is not really a major thing then it would be more acceptable.

As then the norms as we have known it throughout human history would have changed.

There is no such thing as "the norms as we have known it throughout human history".

i) We don't know what the norms were for most of human history.
ii) We do know that the norms have varied a great deal in numerous ways in different times and places within recorded history.

Normal is a man and woman having sex and raising the child. That has been the predominant way throughout our history.

well its impossible for a man to have sex with another man and raise a child from it....so i guess the occasions of it happening homosexually will be very infrequent.

but regardless saw this on MSN today:

Dr. Laura apologizes for using N-word during radio show

To be fair, her first point is fine.

Its fine if black people call each other the N word, but if a white person does it they get slammed. Regardless of its context.

People are only offended when they want to be.
