Forum boasting teen loses licence for his M5

Ive driven at close to 200mph before on a motorway, does that mean that I am now more likely to knock a line of old ladies down at a bus stop??

 im afraid.

This guy did 130ish out of a parking lot in a residential area, not a motorway. But then, I guess you being a big man that doesn't factor into it at all either, as long as he didn't hurt anyone at the time.

Everyone just ignore Tangosixteen, they post simply to get a rise out of people. They will argue any side that will cause conflict.

It's rather pathetic!

close to 200mph

*cough* bull**** *cough*

I'd make it illegal to drive cars of that insurance group until you're at least 21. (Mainly in spite of these yob footballers)

I think the police should dedicate more time to catching people like this on the net. So many tards post videos of themselves doing illegal things (cruelty to animals is popular) and should be prosecuted. I wouldn't even put a photo up of me doing 90mph on a motorway.

looking at it in perspective, 80mph is closer to 200mph than 0mph is. therefore, he might not be completely talking out his arz

We will see more and more of this sort of thing. It amazes me when people talk openly about their law braking on public or any web forum. Sure, you can of course "make it up" lols, but it is very niave to boast about your silly exploits on the road. The "they'll never do anything" defense may be in the main true, but I suspect not always.

It is but equally it's not even half way to 200mph so you couldn't even claim you were closer to 200mph than you were to 0mph.

I can't say I'm totally surprised if this driver got punished for his boasting, it's one of the risks that I suppose you take if you want to admit things on a public forum - particularly as in the case of the internet one where a record is kept. If you are going to speed then that's up to you but if you're going to boast about it and provide just cause to start an investigation then you've got to accept the punishment that could result from it.

I'm pretty sure there have been people who've posted videos of them breaking the law either through speeding and/or dangerous driving and been prosecuted for them also.

Again, stuff like this winds me up too.

Why? If we can find and afford the insurance, why on earth should be not be allowed to drive whatever we want?

From my experience, the young guys I know with semi interesting/quick cars are safer than the ones rocking about in your average first car.

I agree Joshy - making it illegal to drive fast cars before you're 21 is treating the symptoms and not curing the problem. I absolutely detest the method of government where the first appropriate course of action is to restrict freedom. It is NOT the right approach.

I'm talking about M5s and 911 Turbos not things like Type Rs and 172s.

What's the difference? A Type R will still break the speed limit and go on to speeds that will cause certain death in the event of an accident, just like a M5... Or a 1.25 Fiesta for that matter.

Because unlike a Type R something with serious horses will get you into danger much quicker and much more often. It's not about top speed, it's about giving it welly for a few seconds and getting to 80mph in a Type R and 130 in an M5. The reality is most people have little will power in their late teens and early 20's and are more likely therefore to **** it up proper. I did and I was in a Mini and though some sane types will argue that they are not like that the fact is they are wrong....or rare.

Absolutely, even the relatively 'tame' BMW 540i has enough power to get you into a world of trouble much quicker than you might imagine. There is something to be said for lower powered cars with great sounding engines and nice gearboxes etc ...you can really run them up and down the rev range and remain at sane speeds and enjoy them. I even find the 540i is just too fast for that, if you want to really listen to the engine roar at the top of the rev range beyond 2nd gear you're just into silly speeds. A car such as M5 just makes it all happen even faster.

Take the Flying Spur my Dad had or the M6 ...both of those would put you well, well into 3 figures if you kept your toe down for more than what seemd like a handful of seconds. Probably about 8 or 9 really. It's hard to properly appreciate that on the public roads really.

But the point is that a Type R is hardly a slow car in the real world, is it? It is still capable of causing untold amounts of destruction in the wrong hands. Hitting something at 80MPH is hitting something at 80MPH, regardless of what car you're in and how long it took you to get there.

Very rarely these stories of teenagers stacking powerful cars seem to be a result of the car itself, but rather the person behind the wheel doing something retarded (Racing, High speed runs, etc).

Well yes of course it's all down to the driver ...but the point Housey was making is that with a 'properly' powerful car, things get out of hand more quickly ...where as you hooning in the Type R might result in you doing 80mph ...that's 80mph ...and you may not hit anything ...but doing the same thing in an M5 might result in you doing 120mph in the same sort of time ...you might not be able to reign it in fast enough ...you lose control and it's all over.

80mph and 120mph don't sound all that far apart really but believe me they are very different speeds indeed ...especially if you aren't prepared for it ...I mean 80 is 40 faster than 40mph ...twice as fast, now 120mph is only half as fast again ...but still 40mph faster than 80 ...yet it feels probably twice as fast in many respects.

You're missing the point, it's about reducing odds not making it impossible. Yoof in fast cars are more likely to kill than yoof in less fast cars, thems the odds and that's where the focus is and why the insurance is vast or impossible on such motors. It's not a hard concept to understand...

I think the big factor in this one was that the kid was already under investigation before he was posting, he just didn't realise he had been reported by a witness.

I suspect you're right, but I suspect a few 'others' who post on forums are also on police watch lists...and don't realise...
