Oh yeh mate, I saw the message but forgot to reply lol, sorry bro!

Yeh am back and kicking on UK soil now!!! Its crap being home!

But yeh, Lucky Strike is one of my favourite tunes too, just gave 2 stand out examples from this year for them both. Absolutely amazing remix, I love both his and Wallbridge's style, unreal :)

I've been cracking on with Ableton trying to do some of my own stuff too, coming along allright actually!!!

I can't help but notice, that this thread is complaining about the image of trance and posting exactly what the mainstream image of trance actually is (not that I'm so opposed to that, I grew up on Dave Pierce's Dance Athems). I'm pretty into my progressive/psychedelic trance - here is some REAL trance:

Enjoy..

I've been sort of lazy with the London psytrance scene lately, any forum regulars?

I like things like Fragma and Delirium as much as the next person, but let's face it it is sort of the Britney Spears of trance... Well, it's trance-pop at least.

I agree, its just the word real which give me flash backs. Playing some chilled out trance and getting people asking for some Real trance. Just gets on my wick :p If someone wants a different sub-genre of trance ask for that sub-genre :p . Pet hate rant over lol.

I admit I didn't fully read the thread, clicked first link in OP and it was trash, flicked through seeing things like Fragma - all in a thread titled: "Trance is so vastly misunderstood..."

I'm sort of sick of people thinking of trance as this weak spirited commercial stuff....

Isn't relaxy trance Ambient Electronica? Well, I know all this talk of genres is kinda nonsense...

Trance covers so many sub-genres its like calling everything techno because it's electronic music!

p.s. those tracks you posted are wkd! Anymore for anymore?!

There are definite benefits to at least 2nd generation sub-genres.

Psy trance has a few sub-genres that are pretty different from eachother, so having progressive psy, goa, full-on, etc makes sense.

Likewise with trance, as you've got epic/uplifting trance (Above & Beyond, etc), progressive trance (Andy Moor), and tech-trance (Mark Sherry), and all the stuff that mixes it up a bit like slower, proggy tracks with techy stabs and basslines.

Might post some more later.

Yeah, I understand the use in genre names.... I am pretty firmly routed in progressive psy, and dislike psy-breaks for example.... It just sometimes feels like it's all getting a bit stupid.

I could have sworn I replied in this thread before - but trance is for guys new to the scene before they move onto more accomplished and nuanced sub-genres, such as dark goa trance or ambient electronica.

I was going to present a far more aggressive viewpoint on trance but that's like stirring a hornets' nest :p I'm just happy nobody here likes retarded dubstep.

All this new trance is garbage - theres no deepness to it anymore, ie. no one knows how to write good melodies and good basslines. It's lost that meaningful feel that it used to have. It's partly because no one can write good riffs anymore and everyone uses soft synths with too much over production.

I'd love to hear things

Whilst fewer and further between, there are still some about.

What I don't understand is why so many people can't accept that over 15 years a genre is obviously going to sound different to it's roots.
