Hello all,

basicly i have an xigmatec dark knight cooler i think it is, i know its xigmatec.... but basicly its under performing these days and i want something thats newer and better,

what are my options? its a socket 775 cpu (Q9550) in an antec 900 case with an xfx 780i mother board.

thanks

p.s. not looking to spend a shed load but willing to pay for something thats going to keep it all cool and better than what i have.

current temps are 40 to 45 idle, 60 under load or so.

How much are you wanting to spend?

Are we talking Titan Fenrir (35) or Noctua/Corsair H50 (70) territory here?

Competitor link, id remove before the mods see.

As stated above depends a lot on budget, fire out some ideas across the range:

Freezer 7 pro cheap and cheerfull option

Titan fenrir, very good mid budget cooler

Megahalem, seems to be a very good performer at a decent price point.

Noctua nh-d14, big cooler, big price, big performance.

thanks guys,

really i am willing to spend up to £70 or so providing its going to be any better than what i achieve atm

i seem to average 42 at idle on my cpu and its not even overclocked atm.

the spire cooler looks nice and seems to be performing ok but whats better?

ty

venomous x is the one you want unless you have low profile ram then I'd say the noctua d14
If you aren't looking to get the best out of your chip by overclocking then I would say the titan fenrir is probably the best value all round.
