Wanting to buy a console for F1 2010

If you like racing then PS3 with GT5 later this year pretty much seals the deal! it doubles as a Blu-ray machine and the online gaming is free too. :)

+1
Oh and any usb pc pad works on the ps3 btw big choice to choose from.
The ps3's best games are leaps and bounds better than anything on any format including pc.

Demons souls
uncharted 2
heavy rain
god of war 3
V chronicles
infamous

to name but a few and 2011 will be even better including a new twisted metal game not to mention GRAN TURSIMO 5 in november this year.

to me it's a no brainer i think the people that say i only use my ps3 as a blu ray player is just a case of all their friends have xbox's so they do their multiplayer on xbox or just like listening to sqeaky little voiced american nerdy kids acting hard on the net.

The ideal world is own all systems though I have to add that i think i am alone in hating the 360 pad i think the D pad is horrendous on it.

Another added to the list.

Back on topic, PS3 for the wheel support if you use one.

Personally I'd be more tempted to wait until the first reviews appear before buying a console on the strength of a game (although I does look like it will be amazing!)

orly? I think it looks terrible actually :p Way too much motion blur, that annoying brown haze typical of Codies racing games. What i've heard sounds good though in terms of handling and car dynamics, it just looks rubbish.

I believe the brown haze has been significantly toned down, certainly most of the recent gameplay footage has been pretty impressive to my eye - but it will all be wasted if we get GRID for F1..

Get a PS3 then when you get bored of F1 2010 after about a month you can wait in anticipation for GT5.

Infact, before you even get a console wait for reviews because typically F1 games have been a huge let down in the past.

Last video I saw looked ok to me. Was compared against rFactor and F1 2010 looked good to me. Brown haze was, as mentioned toned down. I think you can adjust some of the bloom effects, not sure.

As for buying a console, if you want to play F1 2010, then you might as well get a PS3 for GT5, oh wait thats not out either.. No, get a xbox 360 for Forza 3, and play F1 2010 on that.. Erm, or get both. To be honest, it is a tricky choice, but plenly have purchased a PS3 for GT5 and thats not out yet, so buying a PS3 for F1 2010 doesn't seem so daft.

But I agree, wait for reviews and then decide.

Could always get a PS3 and get a copy of F1CE, its old cars/teams but its a good f1 game, probably end up better than the new one lol.

Are there any alternative controllers that work with the ps3 that are more similar in design to the 360 pad?

There's a USB one saitek do that's pretty much identical to the 360 pad iirc. No wireless ones though.

[EDIT] Found it, it's called the Saitek PS2700 3-in-1 Rumble Pad. It allows you to change the position of the left hand analogue stick so it ends up with the same layout as the 360 pad.

Thanks for going to the effort of finding that out for me but the reviews aren't very promising :(

Yet StarCraft II is better than all of those. ;)

Joking aside that's a pretty silly statement to say, I own a PS3 and the only games from that list that interested me are Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain, not really worth keeping my PS3 for since it has collected dust since playing them games. :o :(

The point is, if he wants to play L4D, Mass effect, Metro 2033 etc etc then he can already play them on his PC. If you take away the multi-platform games then someone with a gaming PC isn't gaining many extra games to play by having an Xbox 360. Alan Wake and Forza 3 being the main ones. There's some borderline games like Fable 2 and Gears of War 2 but seeing how fast AAA titles are being announced and released in 2010/2011, I can't see many new Xbox 360 owners backtracking to these. At least with the PS3 he gains games such as Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, GT5, Motorstorm Apocalypse(this is VERY good), Demons souls (if thats his thing), Yakuza 3/4, Infamous 1/2, Everybody's golf:D, God of war 3 etc etc. I'm not knocking the Xbox, I'm just saying that most of its games are on the PC. If there was more, I would get one.

Once you've plugged a 360 pad into a PC there isn't a lot of difference apart from the graphics.

It's anything but shallow, despite how it appears to the uneducated eye. I used to think Starcraft was a simple game as i only played the single player, i loved the storyline so forked out for the second, the storyline was nowhere near as good so i ventured online to get my moneys worth. I now know it's kind of similar to street fighter in a way; simple to learn, difficult to master. Any idiot can do a dragon punch, but line them up against a good player and they'll be decimated, the same rule applies to starcraft.

It's fantastic, and this is coming from someone that doesn't rate RTS'

I also think that half the people saying i only use ps3 for bluray don't even own a ps3 and say that because they are childish xbox fanboys.

I own a wii a dreamcast a ps3 and had a 360, the 360 barely got used because it's best games were better on my pc so I sold it and don't miss it.

I am a very educated eye when it comes to rts gameplay thank you very much.

There's more tactics and gameplay and strategy in 4 company of heroes units than the entire starcraft 2 lineup.
Starcraft 2 reminds me of command & conquer 3
