I was wondering whats better and why as I do believe they all run 4 cores and can all overclock to the same speeds.

Please explain in detail as I don't know the differences with the i3/i5/i7

I don't understand how the i5 750 is ahead of the i7 920??

and is the i5 760 better than the 750?

The new chips are most certainly better, but it is very task dependant. I got the upgrade itch a few months ago, but gaming is the most CPU intensive thing I do, and I run pretty much all games maxed out on my q6600 @ 1080 resolution, so an upgrade for me at the moment will look good on paper, but have no practical advantage.
I mean I do some video encoding and stuff, but only on a casual basis, so it doesn't really matter to me if those kinds of jobs take 10 mins or half an hour.

What is the rest of your spec, and what do you use it for?
For gaming, I basicly upgrade when I start having to put more setting than I would like to medium rather than high. My next game I think will be starcraft2 so I'll see how I cope but I would be surprised if I have an issue .

i don't understand how a core2duo can demolish all them quads.
**** me up a gum tree.

Some of the core 2's are incredibly good, and even better when overclocking.
My mate bought a second hand mid range one that we ramped up to 2.9ghz for 25 quid.

It runs like a dream, but that said he is on xp 32 bit with dx9.

They have a full suite of benchmarks from rendering, conversion etc. on that site :) they aren't limiting it to game and nothing else :)

don't forget the core 2 duos are clocked a lot higher than the some of the quads

as far as i have noticed, theres very little difference between the two, a 3Ghz Q6600 will be almost impossible to tell apart from a 3Ghz i5 for example. wouldn't bother upgrading from Q6600 for i3, i5 or i7.
