So, now that all the dust has settled, what's life like in Tory/Lib Dem Britain? Any significant changes? Are the budget cuts hurting?

Haven't heard much from the UK recently, so I'm interested to know how it's all working out.

:)

My Sky+ box seems to be running slower...not sure that is entirely linked to the political climate though.

In other words, no i haven't noticed a change. Well, not one that has an impact on my life.

All I see around where I live is poverty. Lots of different ethnicities but a divided society and stressed out people. Also the area is very dull with a big quiet park and shops/buildings which need refurbishing with bright colours.

Is that since before or after the election?

Before and after the election. Sorry I should have said that nothing has changed. I think even by next election people should still be realistic about what the current government is capable of achieving. Certainly the mess we are in now won't go away by next election. Many problems facing today's UK would take decades to solve.

I think best I can see current government achieving is maybe the start of economic recovery by the next election. That's about it with may be few more improvements in some other key areas.

I'm seeing various of nu labour's schemes being exposed for the scams they were...

PFI for example, it's now news that the NHS is probably going to be spending several times the value of the buildings/servicers on paying for the PFI hospitals than if they'd been done normally...(who knew that basically renting from a company that was going to make a nice profit not just on building, but managing, maintaining and financing the new hospitals would be more expensive in the long term...).

I don't agree with everything the new government is doing, but Labour look to have left us with a lot of legecy problems thanks to their habit of making decisions based on short term election promises and what the papers say, than basing them on considered expert opinions, common sense and the idea that maybe if you make a change to a system it's best to let that change come into effect before deciding it's not worked...

EVERY Wigan Council worker has been given the chance to apply for voluntary redundancy just weeks after the authority revealed it is looking to axe up to 820 jobs.

A letter from Metro chief executive Joyce Redfearn has been issued to the council’s 8,000 employees with details of its voluntary redundancy scheme.

Town hall chiefs revealed last month they were facing a £55m budget deficit over the next three years, with 650 to 820 jobs under threat.

Great, just what the area needs 600+ people looking for a new job

In reality political parties are all the same. It's just the name and colour of tie that mark them out. Had this finance madness not broken out Labour would still be in power.

Daft people like to argue politics to make themselves seem more intelligent / less stupid.

/drunken rant

No insults! Nothing is as cut and dry as you'd like to believe.

I went through similar in the last recession where the mess that Labour left had to be sorted out. We're back in that position again and unfortunately most people will blame the current government, rather than the people who caused all this.

And even more people wont give a toss and just get on with their lives the best they can, i completely agree with you btw i treat all politicians with complete contempt.
