Best DirectX 11 card around £100

As thread title.

I'll be getting a card in the next week or so for light gaming at 1920x1080. What is best at the moment in that price range? Needs to be DirectX 11 and be able to fit in a Silverstone PS03 case (dimensions 200mm x 472mm x 471mm).

Also, as I'll be getting a sound card that will use the PCIe x 1 slot of this motherboard, I'll need a card that doesn't get in it's way.

I can't use the card in the other PCIe slot (grey slot) as its only x4 I think. Or can I?

Games I'm looking at are the newer Call Of Duty games so ideally needs to run them at pretty high settings.

Cheers.

Hi mate,

My recommendation, if you can stretch a few extra tenners, would be to go for one of the mainstream cards rather than one of the lower end cheaper ones. I recommend a card such as an ATI 5770 or an Nvidia 460.

Hope this helps!

Don't think I'll go as high as getting a GTX 460. A 768MB one is £147 at best. I can get the 1GB 5770 for £117. I know it's the faster card but is the 768MB GTX 460 £30 better than the 1GB 5770?

Definitely.

A large margin. If you've got to save up another week - you should.

Then again, if you're in no rush, South Islands is nearing released - apparently.

You can have a HD5750 for £80. They are very good performers and usually have no trouble matching the 5770 with a little overclocking. At the current prices the lower spec GTX460 is a way better card than a 5770.

I'm not sure about the higher end stuff but a I run a 8800GTS on a workstation board and never noticed any drops in performance over 4x PCI-E. I think you should be OK to run most of the lower spec cards in a 4x slot.

I have considered the 5750.

I've just measured the innards of my case and the graphics card can be no longer than 10.5 inches really. Does that rule any of the above cards out?

I've got a fair list of games that I want to get and to be honest most would run fine on a 5750 and really well on a 5770. A GTX460 may overkill for the time being.

Maybe someone else can confirm that I can use the x4 PCIe slot?

On a budget, DirectX 11 is a bad idea as in not worth it at all.

GTX 260's been here on offer for £100 ish. That would be the best choice performance-wise.

Small case factor though, I think you can't go wrong with 5750. It's just above £80 and saving £30 on 5770 is more than reasonable. Also, you want to run the card from 4x PCI-E (I assume it's 2.0). You will experience lower performance but not by much tbh.

the GTX460's are not as long as the higher end models, but not sure if they will fit

the GTX260 is longer, and defeintatly wont fit.

i think u should just got for the 5750.

the GTX460 is worth the extra thou, but u'll need to confirm it'll fit first
