It was ported to the consoles 3 years later. That's completely different. When HL2 was released, the current consoles were not.
Anyone who says the gun/shooting mechanics in stalker was crap, has been playing too much COD4/MW2.
It's one of the best things about the Stalker games, and one of the rare FPS games these days that actually takes some effort.
HL1 Was released on PS1, HL2 was released on xbox, Orange box was released on PS3/360 all to 0 impact on the PC versions.
Stalker combat was pathetic, I love how people think they just "got better" as the game wore on. It was as simple as the guns in the first area shooting with a massive cone area where the bullet could go anywhere, the bullets apparently bounced off the enemy and the enemy was uber accurate. Move past the junk yard and you didn't get instantly better, just almost every gun that dropped from there on would simply do one thing, they would shoot where you, you know, point.
Got to agree with this, its really putting me off the game. Loved STALKER SOC, the guns started off a bit crap, but once I got a scope it was much better.
But in Clear Sky every gun I have picked up so far has been abysmal. I cant hit anything unless I'm 2 foot away. But some rookie bandit can hit me every time from half a mile away with a pistol. I like to be a sniper and take out enemies from afar, but in this game its impossible. I always double crouch and select single shot but it doesn't make a difference.
I guess you have to mod the guns to make them shoot straight? But saying that I did mod a pistol and the mp5 to no real effect.
you know theres a scope for aks in the first swamp area along with the vss sniper rifle?
Yeah I got the scope before I entered Cordon. I tried picking off a few of the military who were dotted about not too far away. first shot alerted the whole base and the shot actually hit about 6' away from the soldier.
I dont know if its just my game thats bugged or something to do with the Complete mod. But Stalker SOC wasn't like this. You had to aim higher at longer distances which is realistic, but it doesn't matter where you aim on CS as you arent going to hit the enemy at anything over a few meters away, let alone get a head shot.
But big tip is watch the intro movie very carefully, notice where your character is and what he's carrying.
Then you can go find it right away![]()
