Hi guys, i was wondering if you good guys in GD could help me out.

Im looking for a phone to use in the office, can be cordless, or your standard jobbie, but i need it to store 800+ numbers, for caller ID, all the phones ive been looking at can only store 250 max!

I hope you can help me out,
Jay

Why 800? You would have to spend an awful long time programming them all in!

Siemens S795
500 name and number
As is the S785

lol, 1 phone labelled A-F etc. :p

800 numbers...just for caller ID? Why don't you just pick up the phone to find out who's calling

Many reasons why not. The person answering may need to give different greetings to different callers, for example

No idea, but if he has 800 inbound numbers that need dnis tagging then it has to be something interesting lol.

i fail to see the relevance :p

why can't he use a mobile phone in the office?

Didn't say he can't, but that's what he asked for :p
can think of many telephony reasons why he would want an office phone (or atleast a pstn line though)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yeah i need 800+, as the people ringing will mostly be customers/suppliers, and it would be nice to greet the person personally, rather than asking who's speaking when i pick up the phone before engaging conversation. It also needs to be a fixed line because thats the number thats on all the business cards/invoices etc. I didnt think it would be this hard trying to find a phone! But thankyou for the recommendation of the Siemens model :)

I just have a divert setup to my mobile, it costs a bit of money but ask means I can get the phone while out the office!

I do this whenever no one is left in the office, but i just want the whole caller ID system set up on the office phone, its easier that way.

I saw a DECT phone which had a sim-card slot, which could possibly be used to store the caller ID's or something? But i cannot for the life of me remember which model it was or where i saw it! Anyone know?

Sim cards are really limited in the number of contacts they can store - most are stored in phone memory these days AFAIK.

Do the callers not stAte who they are and where they are calling from anyway?
I deal with third parties and I know my name and company shows on the recieving persons phones (when calling support), I still state who I am and he company :p

Well nowadays some people expect us to know who they are from their voice, we're not a huge company, but we do have a lot of supplies/customers! I think its more polite to just know who they are before you pick up the phone.
