Hello Again :D

I have another spec me request if you could please help me.

My neighbours want a new PC. Just something very low budget for as cheap as possible. They will be using it only for web browsing and windows live messenger.

All they need is the tower, no screen, keyboard, mouse, OS etc.

The PC will also need to be able to run Windows 7 reasonabley well.

They are looking to spend around 250 pounds max so this will indeed be a challenge!

What can you guys put together?

Wow, i didn't think OCUK would have anything prebuilt that cheap. I guess i should have looked.

That looks perfect though, although i'll not get to build anything :(

I suppose you could get a slightly cheaper mATX Nforce motherboard (-£6) and half the amount of slightly slower RAM (-£27). 2GB is probably fine (W7 32 bit) for simple web browsing and Messenger use and I think that the motherboard will happily use slower 6400 RAM. Apart from that it's difficult to remove any more value before you are putting 3 year old or second hand parts in.

Dual Core you can OC
450w PSU and DDR 2 800 memory.

Under 200$, if you want 4gb then just add a 4gb module and it will be 250. I didn't know if your OS was 64-bit so I didn't do that.

Get the OCUK Pre-Built one. Better than the intel setups as the mobo supports all the latest AMD Chips for a future cheap upgrade.

To be honest, for how much this is going to cost, if they ever need to upgrade they will probably buy a new PC all together.

Because it's cheaper and you can overclock the hell out of the cpu.

+1

You can get intels e5x00 cpu's up to 3.4ghz very easily on a budget board like the g31 & on the stock cooler - the 'lucky' chips can get up to 4ghz.
At that speed you're looking at e8400 performance (faster in some cases where cache is less required).
