Has anyone been to disneyland, florida? My partner and I are looking to go and it has been reccommended that we find a hotel on International Drive, any suggestions, ideas, hints and tips are welcome!!!!!!! :)

Hey, My Wife and I are booked to go in December. We chose to stay at one of the Disney Resort Hotels, from memory its the Disney All Sports resort. Its worth a look at because you get free transport between Disney Parks and other free perks.

Went about 4years ago.

We stayed in a villa only 20minutes away from all the big parks so was easily accessible.

We bought cards to give us access to fast track rides etc, BOGOF foods and drink while inside too.

you'll have an amazing time, and if you want to stay on I-Drive, i'd recommend the Sheraton Four Points Studio City hotel

Was going but a hurricane hit the day after we landed and we had to stay put in a hotel room for 10 days before going home.

Make sure you don't go during hurricane season :)

Disneyland is in California :p.

I wouldn't stay on International Drive, it's a bit like Blackpool! I went to Florida this year and stayed in a hotel in the Lake Buena Vista area, it was quiet but very close to loads of places to eat and 5 mins from Disney.

It depends why you are going to disney and if you are driving.

If you will be spending most of your time at disney itself, and you are not driving, then stay at a resort. The All star types are the cheapest and the price goes up from there. I stayed in Animal Kingdom lodge last time (18 months ago) and will be going back there in 9 months.

If you are doing Universal Studios, consider booking a night at the hotel there. It isnt cheap, but gives you extra queue jump tickets as part of the price.

The first time I went to america was about 12 years ago. Last minute deal, £220 including flights, car and hotel. I know how cheap that seems, but the hotel was shockingly bad. Take your time and look at the facilities and how big the pools at the hotels actually are.

I've been and stayed in a villa, don't see why you need to stick to International Drive.

Disneyland is just a small part of Florida too so don't just go there. I found the two Universal theme parks were much much better than any of the Disney ones.

Been there a total of six weeks (three two week hols) and its one of my favourite places abroad so far (apart from NYC). I would definately suggest staying in a Hotel like the All Sports Stars Disney hotel as you get meals and a nifty card to take you in all the parks and the buses were free all around the park when I went too!! And you can book outside stuff easily in Disney hotels

What's the story behind the white bubble, futuristic looking, house on one of the main streets? Opposite a crazy golf park.

I can't remember where I stayed, but it was awesome. Universal Studios is better. Busch Gardens is the best theme park there though.

Busch Gardens was the worst when I went, Adventure Island or Discovery Cove are the best places outside Disney :D

Been 5 times to Disney World, staying both on and off of Disney. If you mostly intend to visit the Disney parks I'd strongly suggest staying at one of the resorts. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside which is part of Disney Port Orleans and loved it. You can get buses to all the parks from the resorts, and Dixies/Port Orleans has the river boat which goes down to Downtown Disney. Getting the boat there is awesome, lovely picturesque journey and you get off right next to all the restaurants.

I can't really comment on staying off-site as the last we did it I was 8, but I know my mum and dad much prefer staying on-site at Disney and driving the 3-5 times we want to go off-site, rather than being off-site and driving 7+ times to Disney.

Also, last time we went (2 years ago) they were doing a deal where you got $50 of food each per day at a Disney restaurant. It doesn't sound like much but it was more than enough for us to eat lunch+dinner every day and have loads left by the end of the holiday. I think we had something like $150 of food left at the end, so we bought $150 of cookies and muffins on the last day to bring home for people :)

I thought that Busch Gardens was the best theme park there. Gutted I only went once.

Ahhh when I went there the animals weren't looked after very well and the rides weren't as good as other parks. Might of changed since then I think that was a few years ago now!!

Went last October , stayed here at the Orange Lake county resort

5 weeks or sheer bliss , the middle week was spent driving down to Miami and the keys. We always fly into Tampa , only about an hour to Kissimme and you save a packet on air fare .
