been looking at lots of wheel reviews and loads of peeps keep metioning it also been looking at their youtube page but don't really wanna pay $12 just to try it out, be a waste if i don't like it after half hour

they generally dont do free trials anymore, but there are quite a few $5 deals for the 1st month , you can cancel the subscription with no obligation if you dont wish to move forward

http://simracing-news.blogspot.com/p/iracing-promotions.html

if your interested in Road Racing, i'd probably take the $5 plus Formula Mazda deal, although you'll only be able to use it in practice ( you'll need a Class C license to race it ) , it will give you an idea of whats to come.

Promo-code "PR-INRACING" gives you one-month for $5 (about £3.20). If you think you'll like it though, then a better option might be "PR-2FREE" which gives you 3-months for $14 (£9), instead of the usual $30 (£19.20). If you take the first month for $5 then you won't be able to use the second offer (i.e. it's for new customers only).

I used the $5 code a while back, and ended up taking out a 12-month subscription at the end of it. Be warned though, it gets expensive once you move out of the rookie class, you are looking at $12 or $15 for each circuit, and $12 for each car - for example, once you get your D license you might fancy a crack at the Mustang series... that'll cost $11.95 for the car, then around $130 for all the required circuits (if you wanted them all) - you could either buy them one a week (it's a different circuit for each week of the series), or buy in bulk and get a discount (3 items = 10% off, 6 items = 20% off, or 25% if you buy everything). Also note that you need a valid subscription to use any of the cars/tracks you've 'purchased', i.e. if your 1 or 3 month sub expires, then you wont be able to use any of the cars/tracks until you re-new your sub.

One tip for you, if you pay your initial $5 subscription by PayPal, then you don't need to worry about canceling your subscription if you decide you don't like it.

bear in mind if you use PR-INRACING, you will get a month for $5 only, whereas the some of the other monthly deals will also give you an additional free car or track.

oh right thought there might be more to it than what i originally thought

It looks bloody expensive.

Might i ask whats so special about it that it deserves so much money.

Also if i take out the free trial and don't like it do i just do nothing and it will cancel itself

It is expensive, although it depends how much content you buy (and also once you've bought all the content then keeping up the '100%' status is fairly cheap really).

It's 'special' in that the tracks (and not quite so importantly the cars) are laser scanned, making them perfectly accurate and far superior to the tracks in other sims,

And then there is the sim software itself, imo it's in a whole different league to LFS/rFactor, but then I never really got on with those after playing GPL, none of them gave me the 'feel' of driving quite so well as GPL, iRacing does though...

I love it, been using it for 2 years now and a month or two ago I got a 3rd years subscriptions, it's pretty much the only 'game' that's kept me interested for this long, and with the continual updates they're making (every 3 months they do a big update) I can see myself sticking around for a long time to come.

It's not for everyone though, but I would suggest trying it, if you don't wish to continue then all you need to do is make sure auto-renew is turned off in your account and the account goes 'to sleep', everything is kept for if/when you want to renew again...

bigjimmyauk,

So many reasons why its good.

Firstly the Tracks are Laser scanned so are inch perfect and the cars drive great.
The races are all sanctioned with a license and safety system, essentially this means you rarely get first corner heros!

They have a large selection of tracks and cars (both road and oval) and content can be bought as and when required. More importantly a new build is released every season (13 weeks) so the software is constantly evolving.

It really is head and shoulders above other sims that I have played, and I havent touched another driving sim since Iracing.

Any Q`s just ask!

OK so what should be my first port or call if i join for a month on a offer i really like road cars/touring cars you know groomed track races that will start me off slow or preferably even just something i can practice with for a month to get a feel for the game...

i'm sure i read if someone refers me who is already a member they will recieve $10 credit to their account.

So what pack should i start with as i don't want to be driving F1 cars on my first attempt lol

If you are signing up for 3 months then The referal program gives $10. I wouldnt worry if you can find a special promotion.

As a newcomer you will start with a rookie license and a few cars (solstice and SRF) and tracks. (MX5 is due soon as a rookie car also)

You can then participate in practice, qualifying, race and Time trials. Dont worry which pack you get as you can only race what your license level allows

Also, if you sign up let me know and I will get online and show you the ropes ;)

that'd be gr8 do you think a 3 month sign up would get me more cause i was thinking if i enjoy it i will get more by paying more in the onset rather than getting a month then paying for loads of extra content.

which package should i get from this list.I'm no racing noob but never played a racing sim

Regular retail price: $30
Discount: $16 (53 %)

tbh I would just get the 1month for $5.

You are not going to be using the other content unitl you have your license level up, and if you dont like it you havent wasted money on content you wont use.

btw the Rookie cars are rubish! but are designed to teach people the mechanics of racing with other people on the track. Hence many people dont bother moving up the license ladder.

Once your license is on the up, you are given some Gems :)

My fav currently is the Lotus79, such a beast!

If you think you will be there for 3months get that :)

Be warned though, it is addictive..and new content costs money! and you sort of cant help buying it!

Brands hatch is the best version I have ever seen on a sim!

Do you have messenger if so send a e-mail to my trust with your details and i can talk to you about it on their rather than clutter up the forum with a 2 way conversation.

Nipping up town but be back in a couple of hours

thax for the help btw :)

I might look at iRacing. I currently have Live For Speed, rFactor and Richard Burns Rally, not played them much as got back into arma2 and started flight simming.

I may try iRacing as well, after a bash on LFS to see how I get on.

Just so you know, the bit that says "also includes 3 cars and 8 tracks"... those cars/tracks are all part of the standard package, so you aren't getting anything that you'd normally have to pay extra for. Basic package is simply everything you need at Rookie level, i.e. the stuff at the bottom of this page http://www.iracing.com/membership/

I'd go for the 'buy 1 get 2 free' offer, especially if you think you are likely to enjoy it and want to keep at it. The cheaper option will cost you more if you decide to renew...

A) "PR-INRACING" : $5 for 1-month + $30 for 3-months (if you renew) = $35 for 4 months
B) "PR-2FREE" : = $14 for 3-months

I agree,

For the price, its well worth getting the 3 month offer.

I wouldn't say all the rookie cars are rubbish, the Solstice is a good learning tool but fairly horrible to drive, but the Spec Racer Ford (SRF) and both the Rookie/Advanced versions of the Legends are good cars (Advanced Legends rocks on road courses as well :))

For the first month or so I'd just drive the Solstice, possibly SRF if you get your Safety Rating high enough, those two give a very good introduction to the sim, if you want to stay then the closest 'D-Class' car to a touring car is the Mustang, which is a blast although I've still not got my head around shifting with the new transmission model they've introduced.
