Any of your guys/girls not like flying? im terrible, i find nothing enjoyable about it and am constantly on edge the whole journey, im flying to jamaica at the end of the month and would ideally like some tips or things i can take to help me relax/sleep that i would be allowed to take on the plane?

i know i need to man up about the whole thing but im a scaredy cat :D

Just remember that it is safer than a car or train or any other form of transport.

Although I know spiders can't hurt me I am scared of them so I dunno? Valium?

My sister used to be terrible with flights. There were two things that really helped her though. The first is unfortunately going to be impossible for you these days, and that was a trip up to the cockpit to chat with the pilots and see how everything worked. The second was flying with United (or Delta..can't remember) who have a radio channel for passengers that lets you listen to the ATC transmissions. This seemed to really help in the sense that she could hear the pilots communicating and so knew that everything was going normally.

Actually the seconds probably not much help to you either as I doubt you'll be going with that airline! Maybe try and board early and see if you can chat to the pilots/visit the flight deck before the engines are started. might help you and pretty sure it's still allowed when the aircraft is still on the stand.

Another thing might be to go pay to do some flying in a light aircraft. I promise that after doing some aerobatics, a bus ride in the sky wont seem so scary!

Or just drink yourself to sleep/MTFU/and so on and so forth...

Channel 9 on United. It only works on US internal flights in my experence.

As far as I know BA ran some courses at Heathrow for those scared of flying. Not sure if they still are running or not but I remember reading about it before I went off to Cranebank last year.

I'm not sure if it's a regular thing but I remember being asked if I was interested in answering questions at that. I know we regularly get Monarch and BMI flights out on fear of flying courses but I don't know who charters them. There are regular courses though, maybe every 3 months.
