Fake WOW server makes owner $3m in 'donations'

Used to be a very popular set of servers. Think there was up to 4k players on each at their peak. Always wondered when blizzard would rip them a new one lol.

I very much doubt that Blizzard was losing 80 million from this server but whatever, there's a reason why people joke that you don't mess with Blizzard's lawyers.

64000 in legal fees... man, I can't wait to finish my LLB.

By the way, this isn't the first time this happened, Blizzard has sued/shut down many private servers, although this seems to be the biggest, highly doubt the guy can afford to pay that thou, if the courts make him pay, he is screwed for life.

PWND! I can imagine a lot of people who play WoW paying for sneaky upgrades instead of grinding their arses off. Let's go to mexico and start up a private server :p

Simple solution seems to be hosted in the far east somewhere. North korea could do a roaring trade in wow servers, communism has no copyright

How is he meant to find $88m ?

i was thinking the same thing. I think she will have to go into 'bankrupcy' and pay off as much as she can. Good old blizzard they couldnt have just taken the 3M they decided to take the donations + as much else as they could get and REALLY ruin some ones life. Id rather be put into prison for 5 years. leats when you come out you would still be able to get a morgage and some what a good job.

That's how most of these lawsuits roll really, they go for the highest figure and they are probably making example of the person as well to send a message out. Kinda scary that it was a default judgement and they still piled up $64000 in legal fees, I'm clearly doing a wrong degree!

Rather go in prison?!

Yeah sure.

I would rather have a dead credit record for 6 years and get on with my life in the mean time.
