I got a Dell Studio 1558 with an i5 430m, 4gb RAM, Bluray and ATi 545v, didn't need the power as it's mainly for internet and HDMI to TV, got it for £450 couple of weeks ago.
Arrived last week, the battery is dead sadlyWill they replace it using the warranty?
Otherwise, laptop was spotless, no mark anywhere
I was interested in an Inspiron 1764, i5, 4GB RAM, and no mention of GPU. Is it safe to assume this is going to be the base spec Intel graphics?
Dell seem to have chosen the last day of the £20 off voucher to upgrade their site too...
more then likely, if its not specifically touted as XX type of GPU, take it as not worth mentioning.
yes you can, you select this option when you pay, alternatively you can purchase by calling the sales.Hey guys,
Just wondered how the warranty stands with outlet laptops? Also can they be extended to say a 3 year period?
Always will have a CPU but sometimes they don't list them for some reason, it will be pot luck if yo uorder not knowing the CPU type, but you can usualy owrk out roughly the minimum likely from the model number i.e 1747 etc.I often find it hard to compare them online, and sometimes the outlet laptops don't have a cpu listed - does that mean its with basic cpu or does it mean there is no cpu at all?
Thanks
I received my Studio 1749 from the Dell Outlet on Tuesday. So far so good for me, my only major problem is a stuck pixel right in the centre of the screen. It's only noticeable on dark backgrounds but me being a perfectionist, it's annoying me very much.
For the money I've saved vs buying new, I can't really complain but I might try my luck anyhow and see how I get on.
However, since my last post it has blue screened several times with a rather cryptic 'a clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval ' error
On the phone to Dell technical support again now.
*edit* looks like a new motherboard is needed as well as a new keyboard - hopefully that will fix it, but it doesn't leave me very confident about the quality of the outlet machines![]()
thats very unlucky, i will sell you mine when I get the GX740Well, the Dell technician came yesterday and replaced the faulty keyboard and motherboard...
... and it blue screened again before he'd even had chance to pack up his kit
So, he's coming back today with replacement processor (and RAM just in case).
If this doesn't fix it then it's definately going to have to go back for a refund.
