Tony Blair donates book cash to injured soldier charity

I'd rather donate the cost of the book straight to the Royal British Legion than have to read that snide little turd's book.

Every action he takes reeks of self-advancement. As said, this move is partly for tax purposes, and partly so he can get more money from the speeches circuit, talking about his book and how oh-so-wonderful he is for donting some cash to charity.

I'm sure the RBL will put it to good use, its just a sad shame that they have to do so in the first place thanks to Blair. :(

If a pedophile, on his death bed, donated £4mil to childline.... how could they refuse it?

This is similar. It doesn't vindicate him in my eyes, but it is a wonderful gesture.

To me it doesn't matter how, or why or where, lets not forget the RBL are going to get £4mil. I don't even care if it was stolen money, really.

Why don't you then? You weren't going to buy the book regardless so the only way the RBL will get any money from you is if you donate it yourself.

Surely that means he "only" loses £1.7m instead? Not to mention that as we are completely unaware of Tony Blair's tax situation we have no idea if he is using it as a write off or how much of a saving he will actually make. I think the important bit is the that RBL will gain over £4m they would not otherwise have had.

.

I wasn't aware he was seeking forgiveness or anything else.

To many people seeing it as a sign of repentance. When it is nothing of the sort. It could and probably is a sign of gratitude to the forces he sent to war as well as a bit of tax and publicity.

he will be making far less in tax incentives than he would on the 4.6million book advance and the millions in royalties.
