Dvd drive region change issue

A friend of a friend is having an issue whereby she has changed region on her DVD drive in Windows 4 times and has 1 attempt left. She wants to use that 1 attempt to change back to region 2 but it wont let her, saying that she needs media from that region to do it. She's tried putting in a region 2 DVD but it still doesnt work.

Any ideas?
 
Not sure how to fix the setting DVD region but I guess if worst came to worst she could use software to get around DVD region (not sure what the software is called but if you search for it I am sure you will find one)
 
Could try and find some region free firmware for the particular drive if it's available. Would certainly be the way I would go before using software to achieve it.
