Can anyone explain this to me? Why do you see so many trucks in the UK with the Confederate flag hung up in the cab?

I mean... what could it possibly mean to them, unless all these guys have got the deep South in their family tree, or something?

It's ridiculous. It's the flag of the losing side in a civil war that happened, what, 150 years ago...IN ANOTHER COUNTRY.

Please explain this to me.

Never seen one in this country.

Perhaps though it's just because they love trucker culture, especially that off America and so like to pretend they are one themselves?

There's a taxi driver where my folks live called 'The Cowboy' because he dresses all Western, plays country music etc....

It's the Che Guevara T-Shirt syndrome.

Why am I currently wearing a T-shirt that say 'Florida Tennis Club' on it despite a complete disinterest in

1) Florida
2) Tennis
3) Clubs

??

I dunno!

Not really the same though is it. Hanging a 4 foot by 6 foot flag in up in your workplace is a little different to wearing a t-shirt with an imaginary place's logo on it for decoration.

I've just always wondered - *why* the confederate flag, and *why* truck drivers.

I think it probably is the 'trucker' image, the big cabs covered in chrome and airbrushed designs, with air horns and drivers in Stetson hats, but it doesn't really have the same effect when it's a guy in a string vest in a DHL Luton van, in Southend.
