I requested an RMA on a BFG 8800GTX graphics card that I bought back in December 2006 via BFG's own website on monday night. When I bought it this card carried a 10year warranty. Basically there is no output to screen although the fan is spinning. Other cards work in the system with a straight swap out and just before the 8800GTX went doolally ding doo the screen became corrupted. I just got the following reply from BFG......

'My apologies, but we are unable to setup RMAs at this time.

Thank you,
Cristen D

Any body know whats going on with BFG at the moment. Don't get me wrong its not the end of the world... I bought 2x 5770's to have a play with crossfire anyway so the card isn't needed but with the 10 year warranty in place I thought it's worth a shot.

I guess this proves that warranties (especially long ones) aren't worth the paper they are written on. Ah well it was always worth a shot. Would have been nice for the reply to just say sorry mate you've got no chance rather than 'at this time'

Most people got an email back saying they were unable to honour the warranty due to going into liquidation.

You not missing much anyhow - most (approx 2/3) of the BFG RMA replacements I've dealt with have died within months too - the company seems cursed.

Can always try the "oven" trick - got a lot of them back to life.

I believe the problem with most of these cards is the old BGA solder failure exacerbated by conditions somewhere in their supply/storage pipeline maybe humidity.
