I would like to know, Maybe and i mean MAYBE i will upgrade to another GTX 470 after couple of months after my first build and maybe get a Phsyx card with it?

i need this for pure Video editing power, and playing on very high resolution, and iw ant 60+ FPS,

i do not want a GTX 480 because they run too hot and this will all be air cooled in a very cool case which will have 700+ CFM of air flow.

btw this will be installed on a coolmaster HAF x with a Asus Rampage III extreme motherboard

EDIT: I will have the Antec True power quattro 1200 W PSU, if i do not have the GTX 460 can i have 3 GTX 470 in tri sli, a intel core i7 980x @ 4GHz

And DO NOT WORRY PEOPLE TO THOSE WHO THINK I am trolling, i have bought a Flip Ultra HD camcorder and do lots of video unboxing and stuff with my first build to entertain the forums :) that is why i am workin so hard at my job so i get lots of money because this build is gonna be expensive

Yes this will run fine, however the GTX 470's get just as hot as the GTX 480's. So go for the 480's if you want more power.

But 3 GTX 470 + a 460 for Physx is just around the same price for 3 gtx 480 and plus the noise of the 480 fans are abut too loud for my liking, by the way this will all fit on a asus rampage extreme III mobo in a coolmaster HAF x case =)

so this beast that your still trying to decide on, got a big enough psu, with enough pci-e connectors?

im gonna second naithwraith on this one. If you think about it, and extra card will probably make up the extra niose and heat (even a 460), and it means snadwiching more cards im the middle, cutting more cards off from airflow, making more noise and heat. (nevermind the fact that 700+ cfm is probably gonna make a fair bit of noise anyway).

One other thing - does your psu have 8 pcie connectors?

edit: beaten to it by several people. Im now going to second the general concencus of scrapping the 460 and keeping the 470s

Kool, I WILL STICK WITH THE 3 gtx 470 IN TRI SLI and also i can add a sound card in the future IF I wanted to =)

STULID MY MAN!!!!!

you knw from my previous posts I cannot decide what GPU to use and what case, i am always comparing builds and i change it every week so one week i might go with the 5970, but then i might change my mind and go with 1 gtx 480 or 2 GTX 470!

but all i know is i will have a lot of cash saved up and whatever parts i choose for the build will be top of the line and will last me a long time.

Anyways Stulid what GPU setup do you reccomend? on a rampage III mobo in a coolmaster HAF x case?

also remember that the cards are dual height, so 4 cards = 8 slots.

you say its for video editing and such, so y do u need physx ?

u only need that for gaming, and 3 470/480's in SLI will be plenty for games without needing a dedicated physx card.

also, what res are you wanting to play games in ?

I would GAME a lot and EDIT HD VIDEO a lot is well, but i came to a conclusion that i will get either TWO GTX 470 (MAYBE AMP! edition and leave it at that) or get 1 GTX 480 AMP edition and get another card in couple of months time when i want to play the latest games with 60+ FPS.

I will be gaming in 1920x1200 resolution (Dell UltraSharp U2410) + couple of months down the road this will also be a media PC - burning, watching BLU ray movies, listining to music, and have a 5.1 surround sound speakers that will be THX certified thus i would like a decent sound card however i am talkin 3-4months after build =)

sorry for going to deep into it i promise you i aint trolling, I WILL UNBOX EVERYTHING i get and do lots of videos + i have been working my ass off and saving up for this for months!

I wish I could afford to waste money like that at 17.

i get £1200 a month, and dont you dare say wasting money, i have worked my ass off for months i am a comptia A+ certified, i got my microsoft MCSA AND MCSE, i worked hard to get those qualifications, plus i give

£500 to my dad a month to help out with the bills

and i get to keep the rest and i work 30+ a week and my work place is 1 hour away on a bus so dont you say it is a waste of money in my opinion i deserve it:D

I say two GTX480 will blitz any game at decent resolution.

i would game on 1920 by 1200 so you think ONE GTX 480 for now and 1 month later get another one?

why not the 5970 - it is better than the 480 and the card does not run that hot compared to the GTX 480?

I say go i7 980x (if necessary :p) and a 5970, then a 2nd if need be, 1 gtx 480/5970 is more than enough for 99% of games so just go with whats cheapest, coolest, least power consuming which is 5970

the 5970 gets beat by sli 470, let alone two 480's, sli scales better than crossfire, which all a 5970 is.

the minimum frame rates of a 480 are much better than ati, making for smoother gameplay.
