Excellent!!!

I bought a couple of the new Samsung 3D TV's the other week and got them for sensible money too but they came with no glasses, as many of their entry level 3D TV's. So I went to Samsung and entered my details as an 'early adopter' and without any notice 2 pairs of 3D glasses arrived today!

Happy bunny.

Been looking at loads of tellys lately and I just do not want a 3D TV at all. It just seems wrong to sit in your living room wearing stupid glasses.

I've just made the jump to blu-ray though so i'm happy enough! :)

The 3D was not something I sought out, but the standard HD images were excellent and as they are new series TV's 3D came with it, as did freeview HD and Internet, Freesat etc etc. They are only for Bedroom and kitchen anyway, I have a Panny coming for lounge and projector going into the summer house shortly! :D

With 3D tv's what can you get that's actually broadcast in 3D?

On that note - for those things that are not broadcast in 3D and just 2D whats the image quality like?

2D is superb on the sammy leds, the only broadcast 3D is via sky, which at the moment is just previews, october is the main launch of 3D tv.

The sammys do upscale 2D > 3D though, which is ok, nothing to shout about as it looks avarage, and if you have the 3D scaling on full you get lots of double imaging.

It's not an LED, the picture on the latest generation LCD's still betters the best LED's in my view, just not as thin, but still had them wall mounted with no issues by my sparky. I still think the Panny is a better 3D TV, bests all the Samsung's for 3D but then I didn't want to spent 2.2K each for a kitchen and bedroom TV.

i personally have not seen the lcd's on the leds, but as the screens will no doubt be the same if not very simaler then id say they probably are very good.

Enjoy the TV but right now the whole thing is a laugh as far as 3D movies is concerned - there just aren't ANY - even the one that samsung supposedly include with some of their glasses doesn't actually include the full film (did you get a copy?)

Once content catches up maybe things will improve but right now the industry needs to play catch-up with the amount of 3D content available being very very poor!

3d tv wont take off properly for at least 2 years, HD hasnt even took off yet. i dont know why people are spending extra on 3dtv's if theres not even a single 3d channel as of yet. if its just for movies, then buying a projector would me much more sensible.

Listening to the AVForums podcasts it's funny to hear that one of them did an install for someone including an £80k 3D PJ (only one in existence I think they said!) and then wanted to know what 3D content he could play and they were at odds to find much if anything to show the guy!

They said they ended up having problems with Harrods not having anything to give them either so had to nick a disk from a promo pack :/ (the number of 3D Bluray films can be counted on one hand atm!)

Whose watched the Premiership in 3D then?

Saw a game last season at a pub round the corner, I wasn't all that impressed to be honest.

The 3D camera that were using were if different positions in comparison to the 2D broadcast which resulted in the angle at watching the game wasn't as good as normal - was more for the effect of trying to achieve a better 3D angle.

2D everytime for me.

If you buy the promo pack, you get 2 pairs, and the full monsters vs aliens 3D bluray.

the demo sticks they send us are terrible though, and hlaf the time dont work lol.

is 3D football in HD? i dont think normal tv has the bandwidth for 3D and HD, so the only way to get it will be paying for it, no doubt 3d channels will cost more than normal versions. 3D is pointless right now, you would be better off buying a decent normal set and saving the extra money.

I don't have Sky and I don't like footy. I bought as an excellent 2d source and with 3D built in should I want it at some point. I have lots of stuff i bought over the years that never gets close to full use and am at the stage in life where a few additional pennies is not something I have to worry about. If I stick Avatar 3d on it and have a few mates around it will be a laugh, even if we only spend 2 minutes wowwing and 5 hours getting drunk. I went 3G because it's d footure and for maybe 100 quid on top for each box I was happy with that.

West wing box set is my sort of tv and that's not even a great DVD transfer :D

from what ive been told, the 3D channels on sky will cost no more, you just have to sub to the HD packages, there not full HD either, its only half resolution.
