Ive just upgraded from my samsung 22 inch to the 24 inch samsung and on boot up my old monitor displayed the mobo bios and i could hit delete key to go into the bios to make adjustments.

When i connected up the new monitor it no longer displays this and the first i see is when it boots into windows so just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and is there anything i can do to get my bios back.

just press del as normal?

also have you plugged the screen into the same VGA port as the previous one?

do you have more than one Video card installed? (ie one integrated one add in)

I have a 5970 and a 5870 in trifire but i never touched the cable on the gfx card i just unplugged it on my samsung 22 inch then into the 24 inch so seems strange to me its not being displayed now when it was before.

Im sure i could just press delete key to get into the bios but im also sure it wouldn't show it and then it wouldn't boot into windows.

Hmm very strange mine shows bios as normal im connected via dvi cable but only connected on one gfx card.
The monitor for me has been faultless.

You're not using an HDMI cable are you?

No im not using HDMI and it just seems strange the other monitor showed my bios and all i did was unplug the cable from old monitor then to the new and now i dont see bios nothing has changed apart from the monitors.

Maybe i needed to uninstall ati drivers and then reinstall ?

It's not a driver issue. BIOS (basic input output system) is firmware in a frock and does not use drivers at this point.

It is either due to the monitor not detecting the graphics at that frequency, ie you are using the wrong connector on the DVI (secondary default display), so swapping to another DVI connector should solve the problem. If it does not; remove one graphics card and start with the 5790 and get a pic up on this before adding the second (third!) 5870.

I presume you are using a DVI connector? Let us know which connector you are using on the card and one of us can try the same here :)

Im using the dvi cable that's connected to the left dvi port on my 5970 but i use Lian Li case so the cards are inverted so in a normal case it would be the right hand port.

The thing is i never unplugged the dvi cable from the gfx card when i got the new monitor i just unconnected the cables at the old monitor then connected to the new monitor and the old monitor showed the bios and the new one does not.

i have the same screen the problem is whith this model is that its auto soucing on the input so it polls round the inputs untill it finds your pc boot screen so my guess is it finds the pc just as the windows logo shows up the only way i have found round this is on the touch panel at the front there is a sorce change button boot your pc then quickly press the button on the touch panel to find your pc you will alo need to press your delete key.
also if that dont work try vga check bios is ok and all settings correct then re-try DVI

Just an idea from which westie69 has just gave me inspiration for, check the auto source setting in the setup menu on the monitor as i have mine set at manual which means it remembers your prefered source instantly without the monitor having to decide which of the 3 inputs to use and only switches inputs at your command.

Dougsnake your a star i went into the menu and it was set to auto i changed it to manual rebooted and i see bios.

Thanks to all that responded much appreciated.
