I'd like to change my second monitor for one that does portrait mode. It's only gonna be used for browsing and such, since I use a big TV as my first screen for watching blu-ray's or whatever.

If I remember right one of the 27in Iiyama's used to have portrait mode but I can't seem to see it on here now. Only one I'd rather avoid is the dell... no reason to pay 3 times the price when it's just for browsing etc, but any of the £300 ish ones would be fine as long as I can be sure they'll work in portrait mode on Windows XP with an ATI HD4670.

Thanks. :)

edit: forgot to mention, would prefer 1200p as opposed to 1080p, and don't mind 26in or 28in but no smaller. :)

Portrait mode is generaly done via the gpu, so thats why you don't see it on monitor specs, what you need though is a monitor with a stand that allows you to swivel the screen, or buy a separate wall mount

It needs to be an IPS panel if you're going to have it portrait.

TN just can't do portrait on big screens because it will look like a massive gradient rather than the actual colours.

Generally, 27" monitors don't have stands that allow them to be run at portrait - so you'll need to buy a vesa mount to do that.

27" ips screen with vesa stand is going to be expensive though, near £1k

^^ This.

You will need an IPS screen because of the way the pixels are scaled and you will notice a rainbow effect. You get away with it on smaller monitors but it is quite visible when using anything over a 22" IMO.

What application are you running for portrait mode?

I see on TFT central that Hazro are bringing out a 27 and 30 inch screens.
You might want to check them out, they used to be priced very well.

I found out (at least according to one review) that this monitor does portrait, but I don't know if it's an IPS. Also, since this monitor does Portrait but doesn't say so on it's description, I'm wondering if perhaps some of the other screens do too?

edit: on further research apparently that one doesn't do portrait. Darn it.

If you mean what software will I use to make the image display in portrait mode, I have no idea yet. I'll have to check my graphics card settings and ultramon etc when I get home to see if they can do it.
