Hey fellow home-brewers need some opinions on what sugar and yeast to use. It's to make old fashioned root beer, looking for a nice clean taste and wondering if you could suggest anywhere, or know any brewing shops that sale a huge range of sugars and/or yeast.

Dextrose or Glucose is what you want. I'd expect almost any yeast to be fine to be honest, the safeale range are quite neutral, and clear easily. Try hopandgrape.co.uk, or thehomebrewshop.co.uk, they both have a massive range of yeasts, and the homebrew shop sells a good range of sugars. Just don't use malto dextrin, it isn't fermentable, and never use cane sugar, it will end up tasting really rough.

EDIT: Were you the guy who was after some sassafras leaves the other day? Any connnection?
