BMW/Audi headlights

I'm just interested - How sensitive are the light sensors on Audi/BMWs to justify them being on in broad daylight? Are they time, sensor operated or maybe just day time lights in some models/extras? Or, is it simply some flash gits showing off their fancy headlights?

Earlier I saw a women in an A5(I believe), sun splitting the trees, certainly enough to justify her wearing massive sunglasses but her headlights were on? I'm not sure if it's a common rant but I do notice it very often.

:) Just curious.

If they are on in broad daylight then:

a) The car has DRL's enabled (In which case the rear lights are off)
b) The owner has turned them on.

I often put my Xenon angel eyes on during the day just to reinforce the idea in other road users heads that I have a better car than them and, thus, am a better person than them and that they should get out of my way.

Probably just DRL's. Mine are left on all the time. The rear lights are off but the sidelights on the front are on. It's an option on the headlight dial in my A3.

C) just come our a tunnel

Ah right, answers my question then. :)

C) just come our a tunnel
Happens on all cars with the sensors on, I was referring to out in open light. :)

Why of course :p

Yes but tunnels are often followed by open light. They don't get turned off as soon as the sensor sees daylight, there's a delay

DRL's on my RS4, I turn them off, annoying crappy things of little value other than "look marrrr, I dun got an Owdee"

The DRLs on my BMW light both the front and rear sidelights up, on the Audi they only turned the fronts on until I changed the setting to Scandinavian DRLs instead of American. The auto headlights on both turned the main headlights on well before it started to get dark.
