My best mpg EVER..

So your best ever mpg, which you leave us to work out? Great!

Fill up = 71.00/1.159 = 61.251 litres
61.251 litres = approx 13.47 gallons
535 miles using 12.47 gallons = just under 43 mpg
Extra Urban mpg for the 2.0 SE = 46.3 mpg

So your best ever mpg is 3.3 lower than the manufacturers guide figure.

Well done!

:)

I work this out to 39.7MPG

Me too.

I only have a computer that I can reset manually - So I can only brim it, drive, then see how much it takes to brim again.

It is a 10 year old micra the problem isn't the 59hp, it is the 59lb/ft of torque (I am sure some lawnmowers have more!).
Taking it easy gets 43mpg but I don't do motorways often.

It really does suprise me how efficient modern engines are now.
iirc the new 1.6 Fiesta has exactly twice the hp yet the mpg is almost as good, with emissions that are lower!

The problem IS the 59hp just as much as the 59lb/ft.
Having the same lb/ft torque as HP in a non turbo petrol is actually a very good torque figure.

So good that i took a photo!

HAI THERE!

.. in my 51 plate Audi A4 2.0 SE (Petrol).

535 miles on one tank (with 40 miles remaining according to the trip computer). Cost me £71.00 at £1.15.9 per litre to fill her up again.

Did take some serious restraint on the gas pedal!! Took Top Gear's advice and stayed off the gas while in gear when possible. Apparetly the car does not use any fuel when doing this. Not sure how much truth is in that but it gave me over 100 miles more than I usually get out of a tank :)

Serious restraint?

I usually do 520 miles from a tank in my 2 litre with all seats occupied and boot filled with bags and I cruise at 75-80!

The daily commute is another matter altogether though ¬_¬

So what was the MPG? I'm not going to sit here and work it out..

Mine's currently averaging 24, but I only just noticed the tacho's stopped working, and I'm not sure how long it's been like that, so this tank's consumption figures have been ruined :(

To those of you wondering if I've been coasting, I quote myself in my opening post:

Took Top Gear's advice and stayed off the gas while in gear when possible

Couldn't have been any clearer imo :)

What I've been doing is coming off the accelerator pedal whenever possible, i.e. using hills to gain speed or as early as possible when approaching lights etc.

May sound silly but I'm normally very heavy on the pedal :o

i averaged 35mpg in my 2.0T A3, and i drove it absolutely not conservatively, i'd rather have fun and use 4mpg more than be careful and drive slow and boring ;-)
