Your biggest ever let down game... EVER!

1: Warhammer Online. I still sub, and play occasionally but it could have been so much more.
2: WoW WOTLK. The begining of easymode (and no. hard modes dont make up for it)
3: DoW2. Dumbed down RTS with no base building? no thanks.
4: MW2. no comment...

I'm surprised so many people are saying spore, it was obvious it was going to be rubbish at least a couple of months before it came out.

Same goes for Farcry2

Deus Ex 2: Invisible War
Spore
and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games - despite the fact everybody on the planet other than myself raves about them.

Torchlight - clear floor, clear floor, kill boss, return to town, clear floor, clear floor, clear floor, return to same town... - sure it's got charm, looks good (if a bit samey) and length, but not much depth beyond the initial premise(no pun intended)

Splinter Cell Double Agent - the death of the SC series imo. Buggy, no stealth, over-hyped nonsense. The demo of Conviction was the final nail in the coffin - RIP Sam Fisher.

COH Tales of Valor - overpriced at release, ever since then i haven't been able to connect to any online games. Haven't tried the SP, so i don't want to bad mouth it too much, but it's supposedly very short.

but as with most games, i'll give them a second chance.

Enemy Territory

Us RTCW players had very high hopes for the Splash Damage release, but it was a massive let down. It was a great game to players that had never played RTCW because it was free and quite fun, however; nowhere near what we anticipated and certainly not as good as the original.

I dont think there will ever be a multiplayer game that comes anywhere near RTCW. It was quake 3 with world war two guns. It was everything multiplayer should be, fast paced and simplistic and the hit boxes where excellently placed so a good headshot player would kill a spray shooter even if he was caught first... I loved the fact that you could come back and win a gun fight even if you were shot first..one shot dead is too sim like... we need arcade fun!! anyhoo!! I miss it as you can tell!!!

.. and Wolfenstein 3 was just a mockery of the first two classics.
This is about games being a massive letdown and I accept that as an RTCW player you probably felt like ET should take you to the promised land, but a free game being a huge letdown? Really?

Darkfall. Loved the first few months, then it became obvious it was actually a level grinder with unbalanced PVP, and the devs are so slow to acknowledge and fix issues. That and the exploiting/hacking/macroing people do to keep ahead

Doom 3. Kinda expected hordes of enemies and level design similar to first 2 games

Any Valve game after HL1/2 (css, TF2, DOD:S etc). Not bad games just poorer versions of the originals imo. L4D didn't keep my interest long and Episode 1/2 were pretty boring imo. Portal was OK but very short. I play CSS and TF2 a lot but I just feel Valve are a bit clueless on some things and dumbed the games down too much

Can't understand the Borderlands hate. Don't agree with any of the points posted but hey, each to their own. On the point of mouse control it's the only FPS I've played which I prefer playing with a pad. It's much better for it.

Anything to do with nascar after nascar 2003.

EA droped on the licence, half baked nascar sim racing on the pc, then proceed to do their yearly pap before giving up on it completely.

Tragic on every level.

Dawn of War 2, whilst fun and enjoayble to play through once was a shadow of the first game. Why make a game smaller :(. 4 man squads of space marines? wtf...

It winds me up that almost every good RTS game gets made into some small squad based tactical rubbish with no base building. What was wrong with base building? It was the most fun part!!

Most "RTS" games these days just involve clicking on a unit and then clicking on an opposing unit with the occasional bonus of cover sometimes being a factor...
