Screw you EA, just bought a brand new copy of TW 11 and the online pass you need to play online doesn't bloody work. Just keeps coming up with Unable to Verify Code.

SCREW YOU EA SCREW YOU!

Was the game sealed? If so, (and don't take this the wrong way) could you be entering some of the characters wrong? The usual O or 0 comes to mind, that kind of thing :).

Nope, there's nothing that could be ambiguous in the code. And the game was fully sealed, it's also not giving the "Code already in use" error. Just "Cannot Verify Code".

1 of 2 things i can think of, if it was brand new then u can contact EA and ask ethier for a new code or to deactivate the code ( highly improbable) you got so u could have it or take it back to where you got it and complain that the code is in use and ask for a replacement.

Lucky i read this though, i had completly forgotten about EAs new online mesaures to stop ppl buying 2nd games, i had planned to buy a copy of this 2nd hand but looks like ill need to wait for it to drop in price :(

Yup it sucks, if you buy a 2nd hand game you get a free 7 day trial then you'll have to pay $10 for another online pass. And it probably won't even work.

Just to confuse things, my Madden Online Pass worked first time.

I had no idea EA were taking these measures for their games.

I bought Tiger Woods 11 and found it absolutley ridiculous that I had to enter a code to activate the online part of the game. I never did and sold it the next day. It was a crap game anyway.

Had exactly this problem with a copy of Dragon Age: Origins.
If you use the support chat, they'll enable the online for you.
Absolute pain to find this out, but took all of a 5 min chat. Seems to me they're sending out dupe codes somewhere along the line, as they queried with me whether I owned some random account.

Someone else mentioned this but I can't find the support live chat on the website anywhere, only their customer support number which is shut at the weekend. Can you point me in the right direction bud?

Cheers

Managed to get onto EA Live Support and they are about as much use as a chocolate teapot. First guy told me I had to get my Xbox online, despite me stating I have gold and every game works fine. Then he disconnected!!!

Next guy tells me what to do for the PS3 edition despite me clearly stating it was the 360 version then again asks me if i can play games online. I've been on it for half an hour going round in circles, I just want to play my bloody game online.

Think I'm going to avoid Fifa 11 if this is going to be the crap you have to put up with.

Sigh, no solution from Live Support. They are having to escalate it as he tried activating online pass manually in my account at their end, didn't work. Gave me a new code to try, didn't work. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGh

So why not just take it back to the store and tell them you want a replacement? Surely not being able to activate the online play makes the game 'not fit for purpose' and thus falls under the 'Sale of Goods Act'?

Because I don't think it's the actual copy of the game itself, more an issue with the Online Pass system. As I stated, I've already been given an alternative code direct from EA and that also did not work.

Edit: lol at the EA Support transcript

Shane: Please give me a minute while I come up with something helpful for you. [07:01:42 AM]
'Shane' disconnected ('Dequeued by Rule'). [07:03:41 AM]
