Hi all

Ok, off to Florida for a week with the family tomorrow morning. We have a 7 day pass to universal studios so will be hitting those parks.

Any suggestions on anything, best parks, best rides, good places to eat/drink, shops worth going to, cheap things worth buying in the US ect ect?!

Any advice, tips would be appreciated! :p

Been quite a while since I've been, but my top rides were The Rock 'n' Roller coaster (insane acceleration!), The Hulk and Dueling Dragons. The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror is hilarious. I also love Downtown Disney. I found Epcot surprisingly boring to be honest. Animal Kingdom is fantastic. Don't worry - you'll find plenty to do and won't be bored for a second :)

Why does all Brits always go to Florida? It's like mini England there with rides.

Because you can get good deals, there's plenty to do and the weather is nice :)

But yeah, it doesn't really count as "going to the US" in my book - it's like a little country in its own right!

Are you going to try to do Disney too? It's a lot to do both in a week, we did so earlier in the year and were exhausted by the end of it! Island of Adventure is awesome, make sure you do Hulk and Dragon Challenge a few times each. The water rides get you insanely wet so do them early in the day.

Our favourite rides in Universal were the Mummy and the Simpsons. Don't go anywhere near Twister, it's really really bad!

There are outlets at either end of International Drive, Prime is near Universal and Premium is at the south end on Vineland Ave. If you want to shop then go to at least one of them :).

I had a long list of recommended places to eat but only went to 3 in the end because we liked the ones we tried so much. The three were Olive Garden, Flippers Pizzaria and Sweet Tomatoes. Sweet Tomatoes is more of a vegetarian place but my meat eating boyfriend enjoyed it.

I prefair Universal, i have just got back from Miami and Florida this morning. The new Harry Potter ride in Island of Adventure is awesome.

aw it's good... they were building it when I went last year.

My mate was miserable so we didn't end up doing much in the second week :/

My niece is nearly one and my mum wants to take the family to Florida in a couple of years, will be a perfect excuse for me to go again to finish off Florida.

Universal Studios is good, I enjoyed Hollywood Studios as well.

Seriously? When I went back in '94 I thought Epcot was the biggest load of rubbish.

If you want thrill rides then Epcot isn't for you. Even I can handle some of the rides there and I'm a wimp! If you want entertainment, however, then it's pretty good (if expensive).

As for the general theme, there's a few threads around here so a quick search should turn up plenty of ideas.
