Quieten a Honda Civic

Tyres will contribute a lot to road noise severity.

What model of Civic is it?

(Also realise a Honda hatchback is not a motorway barge and as such will never be as composed or refined)

Course it's going to be noisy at aped, if that bothers you then you should have bought a more appropriate car

No, I mean something with a longer wheel base, an engine that won't be struggling at speed, better suspension and more sound proofing. Eg a car that is designed for comfort on motorways, not nipping to the shops

Don't be a pleb. Generally everything is compromises in place due to cost or manufacture implications. I could offer advice how to make a new Jaguar XJ quieter, I'd surprised if you suggested that was sn inappropriate motorwAy car. That said u have only assumed that is where OP is unhappy...

Marley Tape can be decent for structural born noise when panels and carry sound into the cabin. Add it to flat regions, you will see OEMs do something similar with a painted substance which acts as mass damper.

Then stuff like wadding to baffle against airborne noise, youll usually see that on the backside of interior trim.

Its a bit of a science/black art but theres plenty of other stuff to try other than dynomat which simple relies on marketing to charge its price. Neoprene closed cell foam can be decent to use aswell.

The Ford Focus is a decent example from that sector of car. Felt lined wheel arches that then give an airgap between the felt and body from tyre noise and the bulkhead sound proofing is viscoelastic for want of a better word where is gooey like consistancy with dampen noise travel and its dense mass stops the panel its glued to from resonating.
