***Official***Smashing Southern Meet (Hampshire Meet Mk V)

Just got back, great day :)

Weather coming back was filthy, luckily the E39 530i is the best car in the entire world so the journey was awesome.

With your new found key?

That key is awesome!

I can't believe I have a key inside my fob! Like a key in a key! (cue the Xzibit meme)

It's good though as it really bugged me why I had a key slot on my drivers side only when I had no key, but all was explained today. I shall sleep well tonight

Funnily enough, I have read the manual....lots

But I obviously skip the bit with the fob and keys and stuff as I was sure in my head that a fob, which I only thought had 3 buttons, was probably not going to be hiding anything worth reading about

I found that 12 seconds after getting my first ever 1 Series loan car in about 2006, because I have to fiddle with everything, and there is a release button on the keyfob :p

I have pressed that button so many times before today, but never pulled while pushing :p

Until now I just guessed it was some sort of "fiddle with me while standing around" button

How were the AD08s in the damp/wet?

In the damp truly fantastic, better than any tyre I've ever used, but damp and wet is different.

On the motorway when it really hammered it down, they struggled at high speeds to disperse all the water and were very prone to aquaplaning, hence speed had to be kept sub 70mph wheras other cars with traditional road tyres could still happily progress at what must have been over 90mph.

On the country lanes in the wet it was fine, gained on the S3 which was following some nutter in an ST220:D through some corners in some very wet conditions but the EVO was sliding around. Wheras on a tyre like say the ContiSport3/Vredstein it would just remain glued to the road in such conditions but would also feel numb. With the AD08's you get a whole lot of feedback so you know its gonna slide but because you know well you drive expecting it so you do cover ground fast.

The dry grip however is unreal, as those who had passenger rides going full throttle and remaining flat in corners was easy, so I sacrifice wet grip for the feedback, fun and sheer dry grip.

Its only come winter I might be forced to look for an all season / winter tyre if they turn to crap once temps drop into single figures and its wet most of the time.

I have just a few snapshots I can post on here if people don't mind, esp. as 1 of them includes gf/wife. It really wasn't the weather to get the camera out.
