Your biggest ever let down game... EVER!

1. Star Trek Online: They got online part sadly the Star Trek part was MIA.
2. Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising: I don't think I even need to go into this....

I'd have to disagree with you on point 1. The Star Trek thing was pretty good, had everything a trekkie could want. The online aspect however was no where to be found, shards within shards within shards :D I;ve never played a so called online game before where it is so hard to group up with friends and do stuff.

Everytime you were in a fleet entering an encounter etc. you'd all end up in different shards. Just make it single player and re-release it, I'll buy it then :)

1. Team Fortress 2 after the Heavy update, from there on it became more and more gimmicky and they raped the performance for lots of people. I still play it though because it really does depend on what servers you go on.

2. Half-Life series. I love the story, just not the gameplay mechanics.

3. Sim City Societies. Killed the SC series.

Doom3. I played some of the first level and hated it. Never played it again. Doom2 was vastly better.

UT3. PLayed it a bit and it sucked compared to 2004 version.

GTA4. loved every version before it. Bought it in the steam sale and I cant be bothered to play it after doing a few missions. Tripe.

doom 3 is very marmite game, i personally loved it! UT3 suffers the problem that all unreal tournament games suffer, they are terrible. brilliant technically but theres nothing really in them, they would be much better off making a game with an actual story. :)

As others have said: RTCW2. What a let down!

Some would say playing pc games for hours on end is a waste of life. I enjoyed RTCW multiplayer so much I havn't regretted losing a couple of years of my life to it, it was that good! ET was the beginning of the end and since then console ports have sucked. The only game close to RTCW was CODMW but even that pales into comparison for the 'feel' of the game.

Can't believe some have said HL2 - great game imo with a solid storyline.

I am showing my age a bit now. Doom2 was just awesome at the time, there was nothing else like it. I can remember wetting myself laughing watching my best mate sat in his chair trying to dodge incoming fire on his monitor. I was probably expecting too much of it. In fact for some reason the stupid torch pretty much ruined it for me.

for me its gotta be:

3) Oblivion: didn't even look that nice, controls were needlessly terrible and the game was just boring, fortunately they also made Fallout III which was brilliant!

Wait, what? Have you even played the original Fallouts? 3rd one really wasn't all that good. Original games gave you loads of exploration freedom as well, but had so much more atmosphere, way better story and super mutants that actually were dangerous if you met them at low level.
In a way I am looking forward to New Vegas as people doing original Fallouts are behind it. Sadly they are part of Obsidian, and we know how 'good' Obsidian games tend to be -.-

Yeah think i would go along with Empire Total War, I only managed to play it for 5 hours before loosing the will to play.

I'm 31 i tend not to buy games i don't like these days. I also tend to read quite abit about games before i buy too.

I am blind buying CivV and f12010 in september, hopefully these will be ok!

UT 2003. Although 2004 did something to redress this it still just felt like a Quake 3 clone with big 'clunky' weapons, sanitised gibs (green blood ffs) with little of the visceral satisfaction of the original UT.

Next inline would be Ghost Recon2 AWF - I was a MASSIVE fan of the original GR but it was just a chore getting through the sequel. Lots of the original gameplay elements seemed to be missing, for example, being able to switch pov between squad members, which gave the whole thing a 'dumbed down' feel.

Recently, agree with FC2. Just didn't ever seem to take off, lots of driving around aimlessly for very little reward.

I thought quake 4 was a reasonable update of qua3, not really a patch on the original but not too bad an update.

Moosey uk = moosey man? If so hello mate. Hi, its me "mum".

hmm

sabatour, even if you grab it by the kneck its still boaring after a while
I must say Dirt 2, I mean no driving force GT support I know there is registor hack but come on all it didn't really inpresse me much just a bit like the old one with added eye caddy
farcry 2 damm that was just over hyped

I would say MW2 but how I don't own it :P

I m not that inpressed by boarderlands tbh consdering it does have problems feels like trying to play crysis just with worser graphics

and crysis...nice to look it but the gameplay grrrr.......

This would be Unreal 2: the awakening. Fully single player story driven fps with great graphics, different environments and good weapons. Bombed completely because it was called unreal and wasnt mindless jumpy shooting in an arena. Really liked that game to be honest but 'it wasnt unreal' so everybody else lold at it.
Lots of hate for hatings sake, quite impressed how opinion can sway so much on certain games. I personally loved HL2 (although only though the original was pretty good), aswell as KotoR2 and Deus Ex 2 - both werent as good as the original but then they never were going to be, how can you get that close to utter excellence in that shorter time when all your best ideas went into the first game. Still enjoyable games that carried on with the story and the world.

Hitman 2 sucked. Loved the 1st and blood money because of the open public areas where you really felt like a hitman, not just going to gang huts and shooting all the mafioso. Was just no character in that game for me.

Ultima ascension was a buggy turd. quite liked the demo and the free wandering but it was utterly soulles buggy tripe.

Oh and I quite like MW2 (and yes i played the original). easy access and always raises a smirk when mr 1337 calls you a hacker because you shot him whilst he was sat on a rock 'hidden' - people going emo in a game never ceases to amuse me.
