Anyone Lactose Intollerant

I became lactose intolerant after having major surgery nearly 10 years ago, at first I was severely intolerant but after the years it has eased somewhat.
Make sure you get sweetened soya milk as it's much nicer, I get Tesco soya milk it's about 62p a litre.
I've tried the enzymes and had mixed success so don't use them any more. I find I need to just be aware of what I eat and I can get away with it to a point. I could have a couple of slices of pizza for dinner and then as long as I'm careful the rest of the day I'll be fine. However if I find I've over done it I look back at my last few meals and sure enough I'll have consumed to much.
You need to find how severe your intolerance is and then you can work out how much you can get away with.
My biggest problem is tomatos as the acidity cripples me but that's another story.

Just out of curiosity - what did you have done that gave you so many conditions ? Was it a gall bladder or stomach removal ?

I'm not sure if I'm still Lactose intolerant but I eat more things with milk in them now. Even so, I still cant stand the smell of chocolate.

The proper term is Total Colectomy and Ileo-anal Anastomosis.
After suffering from Ulcerative Colitis I had my large intestine removed and most of my rectum, the end of my small intestine was made in to a 'j' shaped pouch which was then attached to the remaining part of my rectum.

It's been fantastically successful and allowed me to continue in my job as a firefighter :)
